1). How do you withdraw all your other applications? Do you e-mail, call the school and tell them to stop your app., even to the places you already got accepted? How would Penn check on this?

2). Do we have to send in Mid-Year Reports? It doesn’t mention it in the package we get in the mail. I figure we do, but I didn’t read anything about it.

3). How do you all plan on spending the rest of the senior year? I mean, in terms of academics. I figure the majority of us feel so tempted to just slack off, but Penn made it clear that they expect us to continue our great academic records. How much slacking off is too much? Several B’s I think would me OK. Still, I have no motivation to continue working hard in school. Where are you all going to get this motivation from??

4). The financial aid package isn’t finalized until after the FAFSA and 2006 Tax Forms, right?

1) I would think that you'd have to call the school.

2) I think you still have to because that's how they keep track that you're not slacking off senior year and getting C's and D's (or D's and F's).

3) I plan on NOT slacking off, not because I'm afraid of having my acceptance rescinded. I'm more in it for my academic record. I've had an UW GPA of 4.0 until now, and I don't want to screw it up anytime soon! I'm sure all of us have outstanding cumulative academic records now, and I'd hate for all of that to go to oblivion (for people like us, 3.0's :p). Anyway, I'm going to keep trying to keep my 4.0 UW because there's this really nifty award at the end of the year that'll have my name etched on a plaque if I have the highest cumulative GPA ;)

4) The lady on the phone told me that the financial aid package on the phone could a) offer less, b) not change at all, or c) offer more, after we submit our FAFSA form in January. If you ask me, that doesn't sound very reassuring if you're like me and will have to jump through hoops to pay for it (2/3 chance that we will have to take out a gazillion amount in loans!).

3) im gonna do my best to overcome that and do well - i gotta keep my rank!! but yeah, i have very little motivation besides that. but this sem gets easier anyway so it can't be that hard. plus, i have IB exams to study for so i can get that stupid diploma

4) is there any way we can bargain for a different aid package?

The other people pretty much answered 1, 2, and 4, so...
3. I DO plan to slack off. I figure I can get As and Bs with about 30 minutes of work a night, and that sounds fine with me. Unfortunately, I'm currently #2 in the class and my parents would looove to see me give a speech as salutatorian at graduation. So I don't know how that will work out.

I guess you just call the school. I am waiting on my EA and rolling results before I tell the colleges I'm not going to go. I just want to see if I can have a 100% admit percentage

You should send the mid year report.

I'm just trying to not get Cs. Ive gotten Bs before, but never a C. I don't think the teachers who teach the classes I am doing worst in give Cs tho...

I'm trying to up my loan to 10k a year.

yeah - u can dl it with the other forms. theres a list. esp if u applied online. its there - if u did paper, its there too. its green, btw. like, the border is green. and it says MID YEAR REPORT on it. lol
when u get it, give it to ur GC

My school has trimesters. For the mid year report, is it cool if i send my first trimester grades or should i wait till feb and send my 2nd trimester grades?

I have no idea how I am going to up my loan. This is the downside of having a Wharton MBA as the primary earner. By definition, we should not be getting any aid, but sadly, we would like more loans to make college more affordable. I guess I could just ask them to take another look at my FAFSA, and convince them to give me more loans. I can get loans from other banks, but these interest rates are lower.

Penn expects my family to cover around 25,000 a year. My dad is the only that one works and he makes around 90,000-100,000 a year. However, all the other money to make up the full 47 grand, Penn has covered with scholarships/endowments. This means there are no loans whatsover on my financial aid. Does this mean I cannot get aids to pay off some of the 25,000 a year Penn expects my family to cover? Thanks.

Sorry for stealing your thread, Ill post another thread.

Venkater, that's pretty sleazy & unethical. When you send your deposit into Penn, you are agreeing to withdraw all other outstanding applications.

I got in to chicago today (not even 3 business days after I got into Penn), and am sending them the reply saying i'm going to penn. I want to wait for michigan because I have been waiting longer than anyone I know, and just want to get accepted at this point. Is it really that sleazy?

the thing is ... your just taking the place of somebody else that REALLY wants to go there and now might get deferred just for the satisfaction of knowing you got in ........w/e though do what you want
