Several Transfer Issues

Hey, everyone, I just wanted some feedback with a couple of transfer issues with which I am dealing.

1) Decreasing Grade Trends

I have been steadily decreasing in my math classes:

Pre-Cal A
Calculus I B
Calculus II C

How much of a negative effect will that have on my application?

2) UC Transferable GPA vs. Community College GPA

My UC transferable GPA for my prerequisite courses (I know it does not transfer with me) is 3.836. My Community College GPA is 3.734. Will UC focus on my UC transferable GPA or Community College GPA?

3) Course Not Needed to Transfer

I took Calculus II, which I did not need to take for Berkeley's Haas, and I received a C. Will Haas taken into account that Calculus II is not a required prerequisite course for acceptance, or not?

Thanks.

1 & 2) The UCs are going to look at what you have done recently...and that is your CC work. Your overall GPA is good, but your decline in math will give an adcom pause. I take it most of your other grades are A's.

3) That grade is in stone now. I am sure it would have impressed them had you done well, and you would have wanted them to notice. However, sadly, the inverse is true as well. That C isn't going to help you, and it might act as a slight negative note on your app..but I wouldn't think it would be the death blow.

Your overall GPA is good and the xfer rate for CCC students is very high to Berkeley...I think your chances are fair to good.

Regardless, you need to do well in your math classes.

If you are interested in business, you have to be good in math and statistics. period.

Recruiters are interested in people who have done a lot of work in math and statistics, even if the candidates are not familiar with business.

I realize that my mathematics is weak, but at my community college I never built up a strong math base Because the lower math classes I took like algebra were dumbed down. Now, the higher level classes become exceedingly difficult because my teachers use objective standards. I really needed to patch the holes in my math understanding before moving on to the next level, but I hoped that I would be able to succeed. Anyway, I am too late to fix my past grades.

CC Student we are in same situation..what you lack in math I lack in physics...I got an A in calc II but C in physics...don't feel bad. your life is not over.

I know. Thanks. I just really want to be accepted to Haas, my first choice. I guess I am tripping off it too much, though. Whatever happens will happen.
