Severe Condition

Before I start, let me tell you that the title was a bit exaggerated. Sorry to deceive you, but this is the only way I can get your attention!
I am a sophomore and just moved in. For some reasons, I wasn’t able to choose the courses I wanted to take, so here I am with no foreign language class and several others.
What I think now is maybe I should do one more year of high school like taking one more senior year or whatever and fill that extra year with what I wanted to take. Do you think that would look okay on my college application?
This is dead serious. Please tell me what I should do!!

I moved during my junior to senior year (which in the whole scheme of high school is probably the worst year to move). Anyways, to make this post short I became a frequent visitor of my counselor (meaning I saw her everyday) and I ended up getting all the classes I wanted. All you have to do is push strings. Don't give up. Keep on talking to your counselor and asking for the change. Eventually, she will give in. Trust me. It always works. Just gotta know the subtle art of to exerting pressure.

I'm taking an extra senior year. It's a fantastic thing; I recommend it. I don't think I would have been ready to leave home last year.

But my question is.. is it OKAY to take one more year of high school? I mean what if the college thinks i am super dumb or something

I wouldn't. And one foreign language class isn't going to erase your chances for schools. Tell the guidance counselor to put in a few words in your rec how despite applying for those classes the law of numbers and probability prevented you from getting them. I think it's ridiculous to be in school for another year simply because you didn't the classes you wanted. Your better off dropping out of high school for a year and then returning. It's just silly if you ask me.

Sometimes things don't work out the way you wish...I think this is too drastic a measure.

Oh Thank God!! You are online at the same time I am!!
Oh then one more question! When I send my transcript to the college, how does it appear? is it like divided into 4 sections and showing the courses per each grade? or just showing the classes I took and the grades?

depends on your school...but most likely each year, the courses, and the grade (mine shows that, and 1st semester, 2nd semester, and year) ask your guidance department

colleges won't look at you like your superdumb. and remember, there's always alternatives, including going to a CC during the school year, online classes, and then again, going to a CC for two years and transfering. But push your councelors, because often times, they try to say no so you go away. sad, but true! anyway. GOOD luck!

oh and... for my transcripts, it has four blocks, divided into 2 for each semester. It shows class, and grade, and summer school grades... and all the other stuff, ACT and SAT I and SAT II's... Ask for a copy of your transcript. your councelor should be able to give you a copy.
