Sewanee- University of the South

What are they good in?

I want to major in either history or econ and wondering if they might be good in either of those fields.

History and econ are both good areas to study at Sewanee. Sewanee is probably best known for English, as the Sewanee Review is the oldest literary quarterly in the country. The English department is wonderful, but I am perhaps prejudiced as it was my major at the school, many moons ago.

Hi, these really are superficial questions as neither would affect my decision to attend but I'm from the upper south and wondered what winters are like at Sewanee ( I actually like cold weather). Also, does Sewanee have something called the "speaking tradition" ? A number of southern schools (W&L here in VA)
require you to greet everyone you pass as a way of encouraging proper southern manners. Thank you for any responses.
