Sex in Class !!!!!!! Nooooooo!!!!!

I am sure that the class will also offer a “study abroad” option in Bangkok for those interested in more intensive research on the subject.

I must not get out enough. I had no idea there was such a thing as a “fetish community.” I suppose it was bound to happen, since practically every college brags that it offers hundreds of clubs, but if there was one it didn’t offer and you wanted to start it, the school would give you money to do that.

“Bound” to happen, Bwahahaha!

I wonder if this was taking place at a fraternity house if people would feel the same way. Maybe a couple could perform this completely natural act in the living room and those interested adults could watch. I am sure this would help the young men have a very lively discussion about sexuality and it could be very informative for the less experienced. As long as they are all consenting adults who cares? We all know that the frat boys could watch a porno film but a video would just not be the same.

This thread is hilarious, definitely one of the funniest on CC.

Creepy is the word that comes to mind…

Only if you first ace the oral exam.

Soon enough, it should be normal for people to have sex on the streets.

And I thought Northwestern was a reputable university.

This is disgusting and absurd.

I saw the title of the thread and thought it was about students making out in the back rows of the classroom. I was not expecting to read about this.

lawl.

Mmmhmm. Pretty sure we’ve made rapid leaps in the field of sexual knowledge in the past few decades. I mean, only recently have people realized that… sex happens. Haha ***!!!

It’s the live aspect of this that I find inappropriate. I agree with the poster who said the same objective could have been achieved with a film. A clinical psychologist needs to be comfortable analyzing and discussing the gamut of human sexual experiences. That does not mean being physically present to observe clients in the act.

Lafalum84: "I gotta wonder who “volunteered” for this demonstration? Was she paid? Getting naked and participating in a sex act with 100 people watching… and her boyfriend participated which makes it even creepier.

Watching a film of people having sex is not the same thing as live people having sex in front of 100 people. I know a film can be shown to thousands or millions, but a camera is not the same as live people watching."

Actually, it is very similar. I’ve worked in the porn industry and it’s very surprising how many people are actually on set other than the actors. There are maybe 3 people working on lights, 3 people moving with handheld camcorders, one or two people managing camcorders on tripods, one or two people going around with single-frame cameras, a couple people for microphones, the director, a props person, a make-up person if the scene is expected to go on for more than 2 hours, and sometimes even new actors who are watching to get a feel for what they’re going to be doing in their own scenes. (This is for relatively high-budget porn, though. There are studios who operate with less than 5 people on set other than the actors.) I don’t think there’s much difference between 15 people watching you have sex and 100 people watching you have sex.

I’m acutally glad they they had the BDSM discussion. So many people go into BDSM without knowing safety issues and it can be VERY dangerous. Things that people don’t consider (such as correctly tying ropes) can put people in the emergency room.

I’m also very proud of the students for handling the demonstration maturely.

College sure has changed since my dinosaur days…and to think my parents worried about coed floors (which was pushing boundaries at the time).

I can’t see why this is an issue. Attendance was voluntary and students were appropriately warned before-hand. I think it’s icky, but I can’t get too worked up about sexual demonstrations in a college environment.

This will get no media airplay. BYU has the nation’s attention on the topic of sexual activity this week. :)

You know, reputable universities don’t have cadres of undercover intelligence-gatherers who sneak around classrooms in order to report back to headquarters on any unapproved classroom content.

Its been repeated that the students volunteered. The students that volunteered did not know that there would be a live sex act in the class. The professor himself said he only consented after asked. Yes, they could have left when they knew what would happen. By this time they knew, they had to think that if they did leave, they would later be ridiculed by their peers. So no they didn’t know what would happen. Who would have thought that is what would happen. Its a University for gods sake!

The kids consented to watching explicit sexual acts. I’m not sure why there is a big difference between live and film. When I was in college 30 years ago, I had to consent to an explicit film when human sexuality was part of a course I took. IMO, human sexuality is something that kids learn when in college and it’s fine and appropriate for such discussions to be part of a class. Call me permissive and liberal, but if my kids saw this, I wouldn’t care. Again, I think it’s “icky” but so what?

I was wondering about the legal aspects of this. Do people who attend sex clubs have to be over 21? If these students were under 21, couldn’t the university be held liable for allowing them to engage in illegal activity?

I suspect the over 21 aspect has more to do with drinking age.

Wasn’t this a sketch on Monty Python? It was hysterical when they did it.
