I have been reading the forum for sometime now and have noticed not many auditioned at SFCM for vocal performance. I don't know if this should send up a red flag on any acceptance a child should receive. Any comments greatly appreciated.

This forum is a VERY VERY small cross section of music students and their parents. Add to this, the majority of posters are in the Midwest and East Coast. So some of the best schools in the country for voice, SFCM, UCLA and USC get short shrift. In fact plenty of schools don’t appear on this forum… it doesn’t mean a thing.

Word as to Musica’s comment.

Oh goodness…not a red flag in the least. My daughter auditioned there for voice. PM me if you have specific questions.

since the OP asked about SFCM, I just want to chime in with my opinion.

My comment is limited to SFCM’s admissions dept. IMHO, they are the best admissions people of all the admissions people I’ve dealt with personally. Unlike most other music schools, they really seem to go out of their way to help you. (most other schools just say “oh… okay… I’ll get back to you” but never call back)

Oh, I can name a bunch of other places that are also wonderful, but oddly, only a couple that have perfected the
the “I’m pretending you’re not there” technique!
