Anybody hear anything about a possible SFS branch campus in Doha, Qatar? Is it going to happen for certain (I hope it is), and if so, when would it be created?

It's currently in the works, I wouldn't exactly count on it beingready antime in the next 2 years, but you could be amazed. Right now the strongest branch is the one in Italy. The one in Qatar is an effort of the center for muslim-christian understanding. It would not be solely an SFS branch either, but it would be INternatinal Affairs and arabic oriented.

This is the first I've heard about these separate SFS campuses. What are they, exactly? If I go to Georgetown, do I have the option of studying at these other campuses during my undergrad? And are they only with other SFS students or are they integrated into other schools?

OK, This does sound quite confusing, they are not "campuses" perse, they are more like universiy-run study abroad. You are encouraged to go, although admission is quite stiff, becaue they can only house so many people. Anybody can go, and it can be for a semester or for a summer. Many imes you would not be advised to go for a semester if you can't take any classes you need to graduate, but in the summer, anybody is very much welcome.

OK, so what type of classes are offered at the separate campuses? And where are they offered? Is there much forced contact with the country you're in or is it a very protected campus, etc.? These sound intriguing.

The classes are very much related to the place, there is A LOT of forced contact! They want you to go and experience the country, not just be there and learn US History 101, it's much more about culture than it is just about the classes, though the classes are important! :)

One more thing, you will be able to attend these schools separately for four years, as could naybody else. They are looking to reahc out to people in the Middle East. The school is going to be in a compound called Education City, along with other school branches (VCU, Cornell, etc). I was just updated by an article in the voice that came out today.
