I know this gets rather confusing, i'll attempt to make this as straight forward as possible. Also, if anyone wants to post their stats on here to recieve advice or chances from any individual, go right ahead!

I am a junior living in pa, and attending a very good public high school

GPA its about a 92(unweighted) looking to be about a 96 weighted
my class rank will boil down to aboout 7-9%
I have taken 2 APs and will be taking 5 next year
I am currently taking a course over the summer
There is indeed an interesting story behing my grades, I had a phenominal year this year and freshman year, last year i ended with a GPA of 86, much lower than this year and freshman year.

SATs: I dont have the score that I want yet, but its looking to be about a 1500 combined with a math score of over 750 and a reading score of about 720
I took SAT II math and scored an 800 and 730 on US history
I am planning on taking the Physics SAT II next year and possibly SAT II spanish(does anyone know if 5 years of spanish language would be enough to score well on the SAT spanish?)

I will most likely be participating in an internship for a bmE engineering firm this summer(this is another interest of mine and i am just testing the waters)
I also have volunteer experience at the local hospital
I worked for 8 months last year
currently I am a licensed refferee for USA hockey and i consider that to be current employment

I have been playing Ice hockey since I was 9
I am currently VP of model un at my school
co-president of history club
a member of school run community service organizations
I played lax for a year in high school
I have also been somewhat involved in my school's FBLA

misc:
I have legacy at georgetown CAS and med school
I attended a somewhat prestigious leadership programm last summer
I expect my recomendations to be very solid
I will be working on some research this summer

I feel like my resume is a bit scattered, as far as the fact that it shows that I don't have a clue as to what I plan on doing with my life. I began with a stern interest into Georgetown SFS throughout high school, but I have since become more and more interested in Engineering and reseach, will this hurt me? should I just apply to CAS?

You’re a pretty decent candidate - could go either way. But if you have a possible interest in engineering, and even an internship in that area, why go to GU? There are other schools that would allow a better set of options for you, from A&S to Engineering.

Thanks for the feedback! Georgetown has always been number one for me and I find it to be a good fit, but you do arise a good point and one that my father and I have been arguing for a while.

For example, Northwestern is as good as or better than GU, has a terrific engineering school, and an A&S curriculum that is among the tops in the country.
Vandy also offers an engineering school. It is also ranked (marginally) higher than GU in USNWR (although I don’t buy it), but might be a very good choice.

GU is not for people who love Engineering. If you are really serious about your interest in engineering, then I will suggest you consider some other universities like Johns Hopkins, WUSTL or Duke. However, if you want to be open to other choices, then GU is not a bad option. You have very good chance at GU, both COL and SFS.

^^THat’s why I mentioned Northwestern. Its engineering school is much better than WUSTL’s (although I love WUSTL), and is comparable (depending on the specific area) to JHU’s and Duke’s, except that I think that Northwestern offers a more enjoyable overall experience than JHU and has a much better location than Duke (again, all fabulous schools).

I will be visiting NW this summer and conducting an interview while I am there. I really appretiate the feed back its very nice of you to comment on my cituation. Anyway, I’m not very familiar with WUSTL I know a few individuals that will be reporting for fall semester in 2010, but what exactly is the love affair with WUSTL I know almost nothing at all about the university. As for John Hopkins it scares me a bit, since I know many individuals that I consider to be smarter than myself that were rejected with near perfect scores.

While Georgetown is not known for its engineering program due to the fact that it does not exist, my interviewer told me that if you take go down a certain math or science route at Georgetown for 3 years, Georgetown and Columbia will then allow you to take 2 years of engineering at Columbia and graduate with a degree in engineering.

twlazelek-
If you visit WashU and/or speak to some of its students you may see what the “love affair” is all about. It boasts a beautiful campus and a very happy student body which offers both first rate academics and an excellent “quality of life.”
But keep in mind that we are talking about a bunch of great schools here: GU, NU, WashU, JHU and Duke. If one were to get into all of them it would be an embarrassment of riches.

5 years of Spanish will be more than enough to do well on the Spanish SATII. It’s largely por vs. para and ser vs. estat type stuff. =)

Thank you tonkgirl13, that was a huge help. I do not know a single sole that has taken the Spanish exam. If indeed it is just simple fill in the blank with the correct conjugated verb and usage then I’ll give it a go.
