Topic: Briefly discuss a current global issue, indicating why you consider it important and what you suggest should be done to deal with it.

So in my essay, I talked about a specific nation an its problem... is that okay, or when the topic asks about "global issue" is it asking about an issue that affects many nations?

ex: the specific nation that mine talks about are its refugees

i talked about a specific nation. i think the point is to show that you know something about other countries. and like the previous commenter said, the deadline isn’t tonight

one more question! it’s just that my essay may not be considered a “global issue” because it’s an issue only pertinent to that one nation. would that be okay? or should I talk about an issue that’s universally pertinent?

I had the same question when I was drafting my EA application. I don’t think that the intent of the question is to force you to pick an issue which affects every nation on the planet. Otherwise, everyone would be forced to write about global warming, pollution, nuclear proliferation or maybe a couple of other truly global issues. To the contrary, I think that all “global” means is that they want you to step outside of the America box and think about other nations or regions of the world.

My essay involved the Middle East (i.e., not “global”) and I was accepted into the SFS. I think that it’s fine to talk about one foreign nation or region and maybe briefly discuss how that foreign issue also relates to the U.S.A…

This is a little bit like a CA question. I’d suggest writing about an issue that matters to you. Show how you can relate to it. In other words, for example, don’t just write about global warming because it sounds good, write about gun control because you’ve seen it happen in your community. I’m applying to G-Town too, haven’t typed my essay yet but I’m going to eventually lol
