Well.... I'm not sure if it's plausible to apply or not. Help? I go to a very difficult private school, it's one of the 222 Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence in the country.

I speak English, Arabic, and Spanish (I just finished AP and I'm going into Spanish 5.) I'm half Iraqi, and I'd like to think I'm a bit different. I'll probably write about being a secular Iraqi in my essay.

It's a very competitive program -- but IMO your application won't be tossed in the first round. I actually think you have a fairly good shot. Your first two years may hurt you -- OTOH the upward trend is very good.

FWIW, your race won't help you directly. In Affirmative Action, Arab/Persian/Otherwise Middle-Eastern=Caucasian. However, an well-written essay discussing your experience as an Iraqi in America could definitely set you apart.

Hmm... Ok, I kinda want to get more of a liberal arts education, so I guess the college is a better choice. I would have probably learned 4 languages, but my school dropped our German program. My lifetime goal is to become fluent in at least five languages. AHH, I'm so excited for college.
