SHAD VALLEY QUESTIONS PLEASE ANSWER

Ok so right now i am in grade 11, i missed out on shad valley, didnt know what it was until recently. I am wondering, should I apply while in grade 12, meaning I would attend right before I head off to UNI? I am trying to get into Cornell/Carnegie/MIT/Stanford comp sci.

I have about an 85% avg in Grade 11(down from 9 and 10, but grade 12 will be better).
I have no easy courses and took the three sciences(bio, chem, physics)
I got a 90% in grade 11 Bio, 85% in gr 11 chem, and 90+ in physics(not done yet), and a 96% in gr. 11 enriched math.
This sem. I have grade 12 Bio(disastrous lol- 81-82%), english, Comp Sci(88%) and physics.
My ECs: Started Math Circles(run on a city level)
Started Math club in school
Volunteer at retirement home
Will be a lifeguard(in the summer)

Certifications: Won Waterloo certificate of distinction in all years(3x)(got the highest mark in grade 10 and 11)
CCNA1 certification.
Have CPR-C certification
NLS Lifeguarding

MY question is would I get into SHAD VALLEY? and should i apply in grade 12???

Current Grade 11 student who was accepted into Shad Valley here, and I think you definitely have a good chance. Sure, Shad Valley mostly accepts Grade 11 students, but it does accept Grade 12 students as well. I think you’d have a good chance of getting in with your grades and ECs.

I was accepted and my grade 10 marks were only lower 80s, and my grade 11 marks were lower 90s, with minimal ECs. I think what helped me get in most of all was my essays, I dedicated a lot of time to them and made them as good as I could.

So I think that you would have a good chance. Just make sure to start your application early and polish it as much as you can. Good luck!

Your marks would make elite US schools pretty much out of reach.

Shad Valley is getting tougher to get in every year. It’s becoming more competitive to get into this program. You can still apply to Shad Valley next year (Gr.12) but it won’t help you in terms of admissions to Cornell/MIT/Stanford/CMU etc…
