This is addressed to W&M Admissions but anyone can chime in on their experience. I was admitted to W&M and will be attending Day for Admitted Students this coming Saturday. However, since I am arriving Thursday night, I was wondering if I could use Friday to shadow a current student and experience what a day is like. According to the school's website, this program is only available in the fall. Is this correct? If so, I can just attend a couple of classes during the day but it would be ideal to follow a student around in making my decision on what school to attend. Thanks!

In addition, I noticed a multicultural program called ESCAPE for minority students (which I am) the day prior to DFAS. What are the details for this program and how do you get an invite? Appreciate it.

I just did the shadow a student today so it’s not only in the fall but I’m not sure if it’s only on mondays… give the admissions office a call and they’ll let you know… you have to register in advance if you choose to do it.

ckd, our shadow program operates in the fall for prospective students and on myWM Mondays only for admitted students who cannot attend Day for Admitted Students. You are welcome to attend classes on Friday (we will also have mock lectures on Saturday during Day for Admitted Students) but we don’t have any students available for shadowing unfortunately. However, on Saturday there will be ample opportunity to meet with current students in a variety of sessions.

As for ESCAPE, it’s by invitation only and students received an invitation for that in their admit pack on the your invitation insert. If you received that invitation you can use the website provided to contact the program’s director. The registration deadline was last Friday so those students who wish to attend should contact the program’s director about any available options remaining for the program.

Thanks for the responses!
@W&M Admissions, I wasn’t selected for the ESCAPE program but I was curious as to how admitted students are selected for it?

ESCAPE is a recruitment program for admitted multicultural students and W&M Scholarship recipients. Students who self-identified as multicultural students on their Common App as well as those who were selected to receive the W&M Scholarship were invited to the program.
