shadowing..

Hey guys,
I have an appointment to shadow a pediatrician in a few days. I'm wondering from those of you who have shadowed.. What should i bring? I was thinking maybe a small notebook ro something incase i wanted to take notes, but im not sure... would that be too weird?
The office manager told me that the doctor agreed to let me shadow him for one day, which is pretty nice considering i dont know the doctor and ive never been in their office before, but im not sue how to keep in contact with the doctor... becuase that seems weird to just shadow for one day.. How would you guys suggest i keep in touch with him or convince them to let me shadow some more or help out?
And i've never shadowed before, so im kinda nervous, what do I do, or what do i say?

Thank you soo much!

Don't get in his way. Notebooks are fine, and if your unsure of what to wear call and ask. If you don't to call dress up business style. Slacks and a nice shirt if your a guy and maybe a tie, and a skirt and some nice shirt if your a girl. Ask questions, and try to get the doc to like you. If you hit it off well you will have no problem getting more shadow dates.

Hmm I am shadowing through a program affiliated with the hospital, and I have shadowed different doctors each time. I have shadowed in surgery, podiatry, internal medicine, radiology, and pathology. I am probably gonna shadow in radiation oncology and maybe neurology and cardiology. Like bigndude said you should wear something nice and be polite to everyone.

Do most hospitals have a shadowing program? What type of program are you in vimalkpatel?

Do most universities have such programs? My university has a huge hospital and a medical school attached to the main campus, so I'm guessing there should be some type of shadowing oppurtunities.

I did it through Mid-Missouri Area Health Education Center. I didn't now about it until I asked the hospital. I basically filled out some papers, and than I just told them where I wanted to shadow and when. They set up everything and did the paperwork. You should just ask hospitals if you would be able to shadow, etc.

Thanks. that sounds like a nice hospital :)
