Shakespeare in High School

I'm a freshman and we've started Romeo and Juliet. I think shakespeare is awesome- so clever. So just for kicks (and sorta an estimation guide for me) name what various shakespeare you read in high school.
Example
9th: R & J
10th: ?
11th/AP lang: ?
12th/ AP lit: ?

Just wondering because I wanna read some shakespeare plays, but dont wanna read one that I'll read in class (I've asked seniors etc but they don't remember, and their answers vary.)

I’m a sophomore and we read Julius Caesar this year.

9th: Romeo and Juliet
10th: Macbeth
11th: None (American lit class)
12th: Taking a specialized Shakespeare elective, reading sonnets, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, and another play (can’t remember which yet)

We combine high and intermediate.

7th: Midsummer Night’s Dream
8th: Merchant of Venice
9th: Twelfth Night
10th: Othello
11th/AP Lang: Romeo and Juliet
12th AP Lit: Macbeth?

D2 is in 9th grade–they did Merchant of Venice in 8th, R+J in 9th, usually Julius Caesar in 10th, don’t know after that.

If you love reading Shakespeare you should really try to see it acted–even better. Try to find some local productions. Or you might even find an acting Shakespeare class.

BTW my favorites are As You Like It, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and 12th Night.

Enjoy…

9th: Romeo and Juliet
10th: None (focused on american literature… most of it sucked)
11th: Macbeth and Midsummer Night’s Dream
12th: ?
I know the AP Lang reads Hamlet, but not either of the ones we read. My favorite out of these is probably Midsummer Night’s Dream, but Macbeth was really good too.

Here’s all the Shakespeare I’ve read in school.

9th: Romeo and Juliet
10th: Taming of the Shrew, and a whole bunch of sonnets.
11th: The Merchant of Venice/i Mth,, Julius Caesar, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream
12th: Hamlet

If you want to read a whole bunch of Shakespeare, I’d suggest picking up a Complete Works book that also includes all the wonderful sonnets. It shouldn’t cost too much at a used book store.

My favorite Shakespeare play, although I never did it in school, is King Lear.

9th: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
10th: Othello
11th: The Scottish play (it starts with an M…)
12th: Hamlet
Personally, as an actor, I’m super obsessed with Shakespeare and have read my way through his complete works (which you can download for free at Project Gutenberg). My favorite is Twelfth Night.

7th: acted in a middle school production of a Midsummer’s Night Dream
9th: Romeo and Juliet
10th: Julius Caesar
12th: Macbeth

8th: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Taming of the Shrew
9th: Romeo and Juliet
10th: Macbeth
11th: none!
12th: You have the option to take a Shakespeare class as your English class, and you read a lot. Not exactly sure which ones, though.

We read Romeo and Juliet in 9th, Julius Caesar in 10th, Macbeth in 11th, and either Hamlet or Othello in 12th.

8th grade: Romeo and Juliet
9th grade: The Tempest
10th grade: Othello

I get VERY superstitious about this. When we were reading it I always made sure the script wasn’t in my backpack before I walked into the auditorium for theatre class or rehearsal.

And for the Shakespeare festival this year, of all the plays our director chose a scene from THAT play. But that’s okay, rehearsals are in the band room and the festival is held at Wake Forest, so our theatre is safe.
