Shall I go with Brown University

Hi

I have got an admit from Brown University for ScM in Electrical Sciences and Computer Engineering Department. I would be taking up electrical sciences part mostly in nano/vlsi.

As I am a foreign student, Brown is one of the most unheard university. My long term aim is to go for PhD but I am not sure at this point of time, I might do job after MS. I wanted to ask how good is university?? especially for electrical?? How's the students at Brown as I have heard they are friendly and Brown has an open curriculum for undergrad, what about the MS students??Guys suggest me what should I do??

Have read mixed reviews about the Brown and it confused me more. Please suggest me and any info, stats will be of great help.

Weren’t the admissions responses due back on May 1st? Seems a little late to be still mulling this over.

Is this a graduate program or an undergraduate program?

If it is a graduate program, you should repost this question in the Grad School Forum. Use a title like “Brown for MS in Electrical Science?” Here is a link for you:[Graduate School - College Confidential](Graduate School - College Confidential Forums)

Why did you apply to Brown in the first place? Is there a specific PI that you want to work with, or a specific project that you want to work on? Where do their MS students go after graduation? Do they have the PhD program you want, or would you need to study somewhere else?

coureur – i dont think the OP is talking about undergrad for which the deadline was May 1.

For the OP - Brown is one of the best universities - not only in the states but also in the world. It is an ivy to say the least. So, you definitely cant go wrong with brown in terms of brand name.

Wow with that sort of English, I am very surprised you got into Brown.

^ I think you would be surprised at the English of many grad students, students who are TAs no less.
