Share Your Best Kitchen Organizing Tip/Tool

I’ve sometimes thought that if we ever renovate the kitchen I’ll remove everything (to dining room, basement). Then just bring back items as I use them. Hubby would be unlikely to go along though.

@gouf78 I love that spoon rest. My husband put it in my stocking one year for Christmas. It is great!!!

I have a smoothie every morning, so keep all those supplies (plant protein, mini-blender) along with my morning coffee supplies in a cabinet next to my stove. That way all the clutter is off the counter and morning stuff is together.

I also have three main shelves in my pantry labeled snacks, breakfast, cooking supplies. If I don’t adhere to that delineation it becomes chaos lol.

In terms of gadgets - we are getting new cabinets so in preparation have chucked a bunch of old gadgets I never use! Some of the ones on this thread seem great, tho!

That’s exactly what we did when we had our cabinets painted. Everything OUT. Only things we use back.

Best organizer…we have a counter depth fridge. It’s not as deep as a regular one, so we don’t lose things on the back…because they aren’t as far back!

Not sure this counts as a “tool” but we no longer use disposable sandwich bags. We use reusable bags…some are a silcon, and others some reusable thing. Really like them!

Yes, I estimate that approximately three quarters of all Talenti gelato is eaten to obtain the container. The containers are just perfect.

College Confidential does it again!! My family thinks I’m a little nuts spending time here with both kids graduated and launched. But I had no idea other people also reused Talenti containers!

I started this years ago and have quite the collection.:rofl: They’re perfect for so many things and actually look kinda cute. I store raw sugar, chocolate chips, craisins, nuts…you name it. Since it isn’t glass we began using them to transport those types of food to dorms. Two big thumbs up!

Just don’t put them in the dishwasher. They warp.

Yes. I always hand wash plastic, wood and certain knives.

I saw this spice rack in a photo on a Zillow listing for a house. It mounts on the inside of the pantry door. It’s exactly what I need because I have so many spice jars of different sizes. Now I just have to find someone who can make it for me!

I did that in a smaller way. I got a couple containers and emptied my drawers of anything extraneous . All the extras and gadgets I don’t use. Then I stored all of them in the pantry. Sure enough the next week my husband is asking for something. So I got that ONE thing out. Still afraid to chuck the rest but it sure helped on space.

There are tons of over the door spice racks on Amazon. Not very expensive either. Maybe one would do for you.

I have a decent pantry, but small things get lost on the deep Lshaped shelves. Eventually we decided on something like this. (We have solid core doors so were able to mount with screws - there are also over the door models) - https://www.containerstore.com/s/elfa/best-selling-solutions/door-wall-racks/elfa-utility-large-wall_mounted-rack/123d?productId=11019696

Instead of buying as a set, we started with the bracket and a few racks. Then added more later once we knew how we’d use. The broom holder in photo is also another beloved item - we shopped long and hard to find it in 1993, after leaving one in the cellarway at old house.

I recommend checking a Container Store if there is one nearby. They have all sorts of neat organizers. The trick is not to go overboard and to make sure what’s purchased matches the needs.

The Container Store can be a dangerous place. Don’t go in an aspirational mood, you’ll be buying elfa shelving solutions asap.

I’ve looked on Amazon but didn’t find any that matched the quantity that this one held. I keep checking now and then, though!

Here’s what we have. It holds a ton!

The Container Store currently has 35% off Elfa until October 23rd. Perfect timing for my daughter as she is moving to a new home in a couple of weeks!

@Colorado_mom We also have the same set up with bigger rack for cereal boxes and chips, with smaller for spices.

I have something similar. Came with the house, has probably been there since the 1970’s…

Our new house has lots of kitchen cupboards but no official “pantry” . I have a pretty generous pantry space at the house we are selling. I’m gonna have to get creative in how to use cupboards for food storage!

I went from having a huge walk in pantry to a small converted closet and cupboards. If you can, I’d highly recommended retrofitting a cupboard to have pull out drawers. I can load the entire drawer and have access to every square inch of space. It’s amazing how much stuff can be stored.
