I actually have several drawers and a cupboard with pull out “drawers” - I’ll consider that!

Ours probably came with the house too, but ours was built in ‘88

Mine broke and I always forget until I try to open another jar.

Thanks for the link. Just ordered

If those rubber things on the lid don’t work, we usually use a bottle opener or a knife.

I have something similar (but not as pretty as that wooden one) from The Container Store. It’s basically a rod that hooks on the top and bottom of the door and then you buy baskets to store your spices that fit into the rod. I like it because you can customize the basket sizes you want though mine are all spice sized. Then my spices are losely alphabetical.

I’ve had it for years and LOVE it! It’s very sturdy.

Here’s a photo of mine:

I like that one a lot @PrdMomto1! The shelves don’t have a tendency to tilt left or right, though?

My best tip is don’t cook.

Not at all. They are very sturdy.

My last kitchen had drawers instead of shelves and all of my other cabinets had pull outs. My current house has off size cabinets, so it wasn’t an easy retro fit. My next house those drawers and pullouts are a must have. So much easier.

My next house will have drawers mostly in the kitchen…and really not many lower cabinets at all.

We redid our kitchen completely about 15 years ago. We went with IKEA. All of our bottom cabinets except the corner are drawers. Love them. The corner has a bilevel lazy susan.

My latest organization hack are some clear plastic fridge drawers I got from Amazon. They are really built for counter depth fridges which is annoying but I just put seldom used things behind them. They are really great. I got the kind with a flat top so I can stack other things on top.

I have a drawer dedicated to spices. I need to go though them and get rid of some old ones.

We also redid our kitchen 15-20 yrs ago and still love it. We have soft close drawers in all our lower cabinets including the island, except for the bilevel corner lazy susan (wonder why “susan” was picked), under the sink, a narrow “cookie tray/large cutting boards” cabinet, and the pullout garbage can.

I’m glad I made that decision years ago. I store the plates, bowls and frequently used drinking glasses just below the shallower top drawers that hold utensils, etc. It was great when the kids were vertically challenged. Now that we’re empty nesters I still like the easier accessibility of objects in the back. I’m 5’4” and items in the back of upper cabinets are sometimes hard to reach.

I would like a pull out garbage can! Simple pleasures!!!

I switched from shelves at eye level to drawers for glasses, cups, plates. In a hurry to take out of the dishwasher, H would break the coffee cups stacking on the shelves. Now we place face down individually and no stacking in the drawers. No breakage.

Love the Container Store and Elfa organizing systems; they’re worth every penny.

I’d love to know if anyone has any tips or products they can recommend for keeping a bottom freezer organized! We got a fancy French door (counter depth) fridge a couple years ago when we did our kitchen over. I looovvveee it, except - it’s my first bottom freezer unit and I just…can’t seem to figure out how to keep the freezer from being a big abyss, especially the bigger sections on the bottom.

Hopefully I’m not derailing the thread, I’m loving all these suggestions!

Surpahs Over The Sink Multipurpose Roll-Up Dish Drying Rack (Warm Gray, Extra Large - 20.5" x 15.5")

Got it from Amazon–sorry about the lack of link.

This is simply the best. I’ve given several as gifts. It lives on my sink as a drainer for vegetables, extra counter space (silicone wrapped so heat resistant), and dish rack. And I can roll it up and throw it in the dishwasher. Lots of companies make these but I like this one for the size and it’s completely wrapped in silicone (not all are totally wrapped). They make different sizes so measure your sink.

As short person, I have a variety of shelf stands (plastic covered wire mesh) on the bottom shelf of upper cabinets. This allows two tiers within easy reach. It really helps!

We put most things together in larger freezer bags (so all the portions of hamburger/pork chops/steaks etc.) go in one bag of one type. We stick veggies in another spot. Frozen meals are on one side. And a good memory helps…

I got plastic dividers for my bottom freezer so I could compartmentalize it more efficiently but I have to say that it is harder to organize than my old side by side.

I also use freezer bags instead of rigid containers and try to group line items together.
