Share Your Best Kitchen Organizing Tip/Tool

Nope, it’s not you. Depends on the design. I’ve got one now which is super easy to maintain; it replaced one which had an overhang (where the actual trash can sat) and a lip where every crumb hid, got sticky, smelled gross even after a thorough wipe down. You’d have to dismantle the pull out in order to actually clean it. The current one is “not as sturdy” according to the kitchen guy at Lowe’s… but it’s 6 years old and doing fine as long as you don’t stick huge and heavy things in it and then try to shove it back and forth. But the sturdy one had blind spots that were impossible to clean even with daily maintenance…

I might be one of the few left with a trash compactor. I’m interested in replacing my plastic storage containers with glass. Any favorites and do you find them heavy?

A friend took a photo of the set up of each cabinet when it was first set up as it was meant to be and mounted it on the inside of each cabinet door. While she did it to help the cleaners and guests in a house she rents out, it also works well for family members (you know the ones!) to discourage ignoring the lid holder and tossing items willy nilly into drawers that were set up to have an order.

I can’t remember he name of my glass storage set, but it goes on sale at Costco fairly regularly.

I use a set like this (actually 2 sets) a lot. I like how they are clear (to see contents) and can be stacked. You can find sales at Kohls etc.

we use the 3 cup ones

We mostly use the 6cup/medium size. Eventually I had to order a new lid.

The 3 cup makes one lunch for H. I have ordered the lid replacements on amazon.

This is the set I’ve had for a few years from Costco. All seals are still good and never has anything cracked/broke!

I love wire under shelf baskets

Not exactly a tip or tool for organizing - I love these spoons for any kind of soup or condiment or anything for single serving that is liquid. Very heavy, sturdy and holds a lot for a mouthful without dribbling it on your shirt. These are like the soup spoons you use at Chinese restaurants but these are large and sturdy and heavy stainless steal. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MQFH0H8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You could add this to the stocking stuffer thread as well.

Good idea, thank you. I think I just talked myself into making a good fall roasted butternut soup for dinner.
