Sharp increase in qualified applicants?

I just checked Northeastern’s updated freshman incoming class stats and saw their SAT scores and in some part their averages sharply increased from what I say previously and assume was the previous year. This will obviously affect admissions for next year, but will it also greatly affect scholarships? I know Northeastern says they offer merit scholarships to some of the top 15 - 10% of applicants, so will a 1530 SAT and 4.4 ish GPA (totally guessing here, have no idea how my school weights GPAs) disqualify me from merit scholarships? I say this as someone that can only attend if given a merit scholarship.

The target class size for Fall Boston is 2800. in 2017 they were 300 students overenrolled and that created some issues, especially in housing. They may have cut the 2018 target to 2500 to compensate. So the last round of admissions was particularly competitive. The 2019 admissions round should be back to normal.

Northeastern recalculates weighted GPA’s according to a standard formula.

This will make Northeastern a very large reach, as even if you get one, the highest ones are limited and some scholarships may still not be enough. It’s worth the application if you’re really interested in the school but I would temper expectations.

Will you be a National Merit Finalist?
