Hi,
I wasn't sure what people's views were on Shaw Hall as a freshman or Haven Hall? Would you say that these were desirable dorms for freshman? Also do you have any information about the Psychology learning community? Also did anyone do the summer start program and was it beneficial?

Hey there, Bella10!

First off, I currently live in Shaw – so you lucked out there… second, my roommate has a friend who lives in Haven. :P

I personally think Shaw’s pretty nice, especially if you’re going into a learning community that lives on 3 or above. I’ve found Floors 1 and 2 to be more isolated, since there are different “wings” to them – the front and back of Shaw, respectively. 3 and above are connected, so it feels more like a giant family.

Room-wise, I think they’re pretty nice. They’re comparable to rooms in DellPlain. If you want the “next step” up, I’d go with BBB since they have slightly larger rooms, but it’s significantly farther from campus than Shaw/DP are. I honestly did not mind living in Shaw at all… in fact, my room feels pretty homey to me, so :P

I have heard that Haven’s generally pretty boring, since it’s on the outskirts of campus. They’re… a block away from Ernie Davis/DellPlain, which should be about a five to seven minute walk to the quad if you walk at a reasonable pace. Not so sure about dorm room quality though, sorry.

Hope that helps… Feel free to ask more pointed questions as I really don’t know what else to say. :P
