SHC SATs

Okay, well I know that the SHC claims to not look at SATs in admissions, but if that is the case why is there average SAT scores so high? I mean the SATs competes with HYP, and it just seems as though this is very coincidental considering i know many people in my school with a 3.8+/4.0 who scored below 2000.

this may help [SATs and the Admissions Process at Schreyer Honors College, Penn State](http://engage.shc.psu.edu/?p=378)

alrighty, i still just find it strange thats all

Perhaps the more appropriate word to use here is “correlative.”

I think what Quiet Type is saying is that the kids who are admitted to SHC are intelligent, motivated high achievers as shown through their high grades, excellent essay writing skills, rigorous academics, ECs and recommendations; such high achieving students usually (but not always) also have high SAT scores. So what you are seeing is a statistical correlation of high SAT scores rather than an admission process that selects for high SAT scores.

Also- Average SAT scores of Schreyer Honors College are not really competitive with HYP

mid-50% SAT scores

Harvard 2100-2390
Yale 2120-2390
Princeton 2100-2370

Shreyer 1960-2160
