She finally had a good audition!! Yay!

My daughter got rejected from the school of music at Case, Vandy & Belmont & was feeling pretty down. Yesterday & today she had 2 other auditions, one for a BA in music and the other for a dual degree BM in Composition and Piano Performance & both went really well! I am so happy for her. That is all.

Good news, turtlefence! It is always such a relief when things go well for them.

Very happy for you and your daughter. A great number of exceptional composers received a BA in Music before going to grad school for composition.

Great to hear! Hang in there, these things have a way of working out for the best.

Great story. Smiling.

Congratulations to your daughter. My son has had some disappointments this year, also. Goes with the territory, I guess.

Congratulations to your daughter! This is such a stressful time. I wondered how you knew that she was not accepted to the schools you mentioned. Was it that she did not pass the prescreen or did she audition then receive the news? My D is also waiting on a couple of those schools. Many thanks in advance for the information.

applause1, yes, for CWR and Vandy she didn’t pass the prescreens. Vandy’s music school was a real long shot anyway. She found out about Belmont this week, but wasn’t surprised given the # of kids at the audition she went to. This has been a learning experience for all of us, lol! The teachers at both places where the auditions went well have both promised scholarship money now too! We’ll see what happens. Good luck to your daughter as well!

Some colleges will allow you to start as a BA/BS Music major and then re-audition for the BM program. Be sure to look into that at all the schools where your D was not accepted into the BM program. I think Belmont does not have a BA/BS program. Vandy might though.
