sheets for dorm beds

I got this letter today from a linen company telling me to order my beddings for the "uniquely sized extra-long single bed" at cal. However, my mom doesn't want to pay and believes that she can get the same beddings elsewhere for less.
so should I just order from that company? if not, how will I know how long or big the dorm beds are?

Your mom is a smart woman.

Everyone got the letter. It's a rip-off.

That company is notoriously BAD. Search the company here and you'll find horror story threads.

Bed Bay & beyond has extra long. Decent selection. I was there today looking at sutff

I just bought my XL twin sheets for $9.49 at Target! GOGOGO hahahahah.

Thanks for mentioning Target. Also, since Linens N Things is going out of biz, I'll bet there in the midst of a fire sale right now. I need to get my son a new sheet set -- he went up last year with 2 and the second set, which was the Jersey material, he absolutely hated and, frankly, it looked so bad when we picked him up we left it in the donation pile.

Yeah, the dorms don't use any unique bed sizes that only that company can provide sheets for. I ended up going to Target the first week to get my sheets and found plenty of extra long twin size sheets.

Can someone link to the horror stories - I couldn't find any. I thought the packages that came in the mail looked like a good deal but now you guys are scaring me. What exactly is wrong with the sheets?

Google the company that's offering the packages. Last year I remember we all got a letter in the mail from this company making it look like it had the Berkeley stamp of approval on it or something. When you go to Calso, however, you'll see they actively market Bed Bath & Beyond, not this company.

and also:

Scam operation in name of UCLA

As an aside, BB&B promotes this thing where you can buy whatever you plan to get at your local store, then pick it up at the store closest to Berkeley. This is good in that you can pack more stuff into your car and not have to deal with comforters, lamps, sheets, etc. But if you don't have a car to GET to BB&B, you'll have another problem, because it's pretty far from campus.

It's a travesty that Berkeley would allow its letterhead to be used by this outfit.

i know ^ , why is it ASUC endorsed if its a scam... o well im getting mine from target ! =D online they have a good selection.. just look up twin xl and voila!

wow thanks guys!
i really thought the company was associated with the student government, as it suggests that it is one of the services the student government provides to new students. -_-
I was a bit suspicious though, because on the top of the letter, all UC campuses were listed, except for UC merced. I guess they reused the same letter format from the last few years?
anyways, how did the company get the list of accepted and attending students for a specific campus?

Thanks for the warning. I have to trash that letter, then.
