<p>I've heard lots of colleges who tell students to buy their sheets are just ripping them off. Does anyone know if there are any other 80 inch sheets that you can order from somewhere other than NYU that work? Or is it better to just order from NYU?</p>

<p>Hi, Bed Bath and Beyond is nice in that they have a number of collections and a variety of choices available with XL Twin Sheets. However, I have found that by shopping around at Bloomingdale and Macy’s, I can get equivalent or better quality sheets and pillowcases for less cost.<br>
- For instance at Bloomingdale, I bought close-out Hudson Park 500 thread XL twin sheets for $19.99 each (originally $60 each). They feel smooth and silken to the touch and are iron free, as well as fitting deeper mattresses (18", my son will have a thick mattress pad which adds depth to the bed).</p>
<p>2) Separately at Macy’s, with the current July 4th sale (including free shipping for purchases over $99 and clearance and other items on sale), I bought the Michael Kors Carnegie Hill 500 thread standard pillow cases for $21.97 a set (2 cases), originally $70 a pair. Also, I got the Martha Stewart Collection 400 thread XL twin sheet for $19.99 and 400 thread pair of pillowcases for $29.99. These Macy’s pillow cases and sheet have been highly rated by reviewers who like the high quality for good prices.</p>
<p>So, these are options if you like quality. I am sold on super comfortable and nice feeling bedding for my son because I think he deserves dreamy and comfortable sleep with all the hard work that awaits him in college.</p>
<p>By the way, I also grabbed him some super soft but somewhat supportive pillows and the best bed lounger (for studying or reading while sitting or resting in bed) and a cozy napa twin blanket from Brookstone. Brookstone items tend to be expensive, e.g., the full price lounger (but oh, so worth it, the best lounger I have tried and I have tried a few in my time). However, I bought the pillows for half price and the twin blanket (soft and cozy) on sale.</p>
<p>Sonny basically has all he needs when it comes to nice and quality bedding at good prices (the big splurge was the “indispensable” lounger).</p>
<p>I outfitted my entire dorm at Target. And I mean EVERYTHING: kitchen supplies, bed stuff, food, toiletries, bathroom stuff. </p>
<p>The only thing I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond is the mattress toppers.</p>
<p>Everywhere has XL sheets so just pick ones you like best. I mixed and matched but I prefer high thread count sheets so I just use regular (not XL) and they work surprisingly well. </p>
<p>I will say that during move in day (at least when I was moving in two years ago) there were free buses to Bed Bath and Beyond and they were handing out 20% coupons. I’m not suggesting getting everything that first day but don’t worry too much about not getting something because you can always go get it later.</p>
<p>If you live in the suburbs, discounters like TJ Maxx and Marshalls usually get in a large shipment of twin XL sheets some time in July. They are generally from name brand manufacturers and are much higher thread count/quality than those offered by the college bedding contractors. You can also order twin XL sheets/comforters/duvets online from Domestications or The Company Store, though likely not as discounted. I highly recommend getting a mattress topper or featherbed as well, as those dorm “mattresses” are beyond awful.</p>
