Shenandoah audition registration

Need some help - the audition registration form for Shenandoah asks you to pick either a Music Audition or a Theatre Audition. I would guess MT would be Theatre because that’s where the program is organized, but then where do you load your audition songs? And the Theatre selection is looking for 2 monologues, one of them Shakespearean but their MT audition guidelines (different document) ask for only a contemporary monologue. There isn’t a place under the Music Audition selection to put a monologue.

Anybody know how they want this filled out? Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to submit the prescreen materials for Musical Theatre OR, has your child already passed the prescreen and now trying to schedule an audition date?

If you scroll down the page below you will see the instructions for submitting the prescreen requirements.

[Shenandoah University : Conservatory Special Requirements](http://www.su.edu/admission/85850EDB5DB14373BA46A8E5A06DF852.asp)

She is waiting to hear back from her prescreening submission. At the top of the Special Requirements page it says “Applicants are encouraged to submit application materials and register for the audition/portfolio review concurrently.” and then it goes on to say the audition won’t be confirmed until all materials are received.

Is there a different process for the MTers once the prescreening has been accepted?

I BELIEVE you have to be invited to the live audition for musical theatre before you schedule the audition date, but I do not know that for sure. According to the audition registration page it says – “(Musical Theatre live auditions are only available for those who have passed the pre-screening portion.)”

It also says on the Conservatory Admissions page:

“Register for the Audition
Applicants are encouraged to submit application materials and register for the audition/portfolio review concurrently. No audition will be scheduled without submission of the Shenandoah University Application for Admission and the audition will not be confirmed until all application materials have been received.
Shenandoah Conservatory accepts auditions in two different formats:

"Applicants to the Musical Theatre program have a 2-step audition process.

Musical Theatre Prescreening:

Applicants must first submit a recorded prescreening audition. The recorded prescreening must be submitted by January 8, 2012 through the Shenandoah Conservatory Digital Dropbox. No tapes, DVDs or YouTube videos will be accepted. Prescreening audition selections must follow the Musical Theatre Audition guidelines. Only the vocal and monologue portions are required for prescreening; no dance necessary.

2. Musical Theatre Live Audition:

Applicants who successfully pass the recorded prescreening audition will be invited to campus to complete a live audition with the Musical Theatre faculty at Shenandoah University in December 2011 or January or February 2012."

It appears that you need to wait to schedule an audition for Musical Theatre until you receive notification of whether or not the prescreen has been passed?

There is a Musical Theatre Educators Conference this weekend that many program directors and faculty are attending… I would be attending myself if we did not start rehearsals for Sweeney this weekend… If you contact the program at Shenandoah on Monday you will likely find people there to answer your questions definitively.

:)

You might have already found out by now, but Shenandoah actually called me and told me I passed the prescreen, and asked me what day I wanted to audition. Then they sent me a confirmation email. So I never had to sign up online.
I was expecting an email saying yes you passed or no you didn’t, and if yes, to go to the website to sign up or something. I’m not sure if they’ve been calling everyone because it turns out there was a letter missing from my email so its possible they tried that first and it bounced back or something.

Hello! My daughter also got informed via a phone call, but she submitted the earliest possible to get the 1st audition date for MT because her schedule didn’t allow any of the other later dates. If you email Margie Cullen there, she’s awesome. She will get right back to you and explain / answer whatever you need.
We got waitlisted, so I guess that’s a good thing! Cautious optimism!

lalamusicmuse- did you audition yet?

Pre-screen invitees DO receive a phone call. Margie is your best friend and biggest advocate, she will go out of your way to help you, so do not hesitate to contact her if you have concerns.

VT

P.S. - Thanks KatMT for chiming in - very appreciated!

lalaimb - no i did not audition yet, i will in a couple of weeks
