She's in!

Just got the very THICK envelope from Penn State. I am being a good mommy and not opening it even though its killing me. In big letters on the outside of the envelope it says "CONGRATULATIONS", so I guess she's in. Now we only have to wait for 8 more.
Thanks to everyone for their good wishes on my last thread regarding the wait for this letter.

congratulations

WooOOHooOO! How exciting! I don't think I could help not opening it - nope, not possible LOL.

Congratulations. The first acceptance is such a relief. And then the tables turn and the colleges start wooing your daughter.

I knew it! Revel in your ability to relax and enjoy the time between now and 4/1. Gotta love those "hints" posted on the outside of the envelope. DS even got some skinny envelopes last year with one of those good news thingies on the outside.

Savor the moments of waiting.......now you know why they print the salutation on the outside of the envelope. She will only get ONE FIRST envelope and although the others will be exciting.....this is the one she will remember. Have a great celebration this evening.

Congratulations!!!! Break out the sparkling grape juice and champagne!! Well done!

"So I guess she's in." LOL

Great news! Penn State is an excellent university. It's so wonderful having this acceptance in hand as your D waits for the results of her other applications!

Terrific news. If I remember correctly, your daughter, like mine, wants to be a sportswriter--PSU has a terrific journalism department. Thus, no matter what happens with her other applications, she's going to be at a great school with a strong program in her area.

Makes senior year a lot more relaxed, doesn't it?

Hurrah for yankeegirl and her D! Now you really have something to be thankful for next Thursday!

Congrats! I thought the news would from Penn State would be good. But the torture- to know that the decision is "in the mail" and to have to wait until you receive it. Yikes!

Heartiest congrats. We are . . . Penn State.

It would take a cruel adcom to stuff an envelope with blank papers, insert a rejection letter, then stamp "Congratulations" on the outside, so yeah I think she's in. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a relief it must be.....go celebrate.

From this point on, you will begin to fully understand the joys of "rolling admissions" and the totally calming effect it will have on the rest of the college-acceptance season - all the way to April 1.

Congratulations

I know that a great weight has now been lifted for the months ahead.

watching D pace as she is waiting to hear from 8 more schools? Agonizing :(

No worries about D not having anyplace to attend ? Priceless:)

Congrats! I think it's safe to assume it's a "yes". My S's first rolling admit was Umich, and it was this blank looking, vertical envelope with an address window, looking for all the world like a viewbook type mailing. It wasn't till late that night that i took a closer look and suggested to S he might want to open it....

So an envelope like you got is nice!

Thanks everyone!!!
We visited PS this past weekend and D loved it, so not only do we know she is definitely going to college, but we know she is going somewhere she loves. She is already dreading making the actual final decision, she loves all the schools she applied to.

Thanks for the warning, garland. My D is anxiously awaiting the response from UMich. Her app went in the 3rd week of October to both the Music School and L, S, & A. She got an e-mail last week inviting her for an audition at the Music School in January. Crossing her fingers on the rest.

CONGRATS (taxguy does a jig)

She should now go out and see the new Harry Potter movie.
