This is great news! Hope the others go this well.

Congratulations to your daughter. Now, stop manhandling the envelope. :)

Congrats. I LOVE those envelopes! The Indiana acceptance had HUGE lettering on the outside saying "You're In!" On top of that it said, "Get Ready For IU". I kept the envelope in case it is the only acceptance (only kidding, but I DID keep the envelope).

I would be tempted to do a collage of the acceptance envelopes. My kids would probably poo poo that but I would like to see it hanging in my office :p

Congratulations Yankeegirl and best wishes on the next eight!! How nice to have an admission in hand.

Digi, due to various criteria, there wasn't a rolling admissions school on D's list. Wellesley will always get props from me for their "Early Evaluation" option, whereby they send out Likely/Possible/Unlikely letters in February, weeks and weeks before the other non-rolling schools send out the formal acceptances/or not. It seemed as if whole household exhaled. And the "splash!" you heard three nanoseconds later was D pitching her Safety overboard.

Congrats. Now you'll have to root for them this weekend vs. Mich State. Big 10 and BCS at stake!

I still have UChicago's acceptance envelope, somewhat the worse for wear. It will go in the scrapbook.

What a thrill! Congrats!

yg, I can touch the feeling as if it were yesterday -- including the successfully resisted temptation to open. Enjoy. Hope there are many more.

Congrats! That first one sure takes the pressure off, doesn't it?!

Congrats to you and your daughter. I remember my oldest daughter's acceptance from Mt. Holyoke. Before she heard from the college, she received a letter from her intended department saying how excited they were that she was going to study with them. We took that as a good sign. The ED acceptance letter didnt come for another three days. The letter from the department was in a very skinny envelope and led to extreme paranoia until my d. came home from school.

Let me add my congratulations. I have a question...my son also applied to Penn State and it says that they had reached a decision as of 11/11 (last Friday). We're in PA and run to the mailbox each day...to no avail. We can't imagine why it would take more than 3 days for mail to go 120 miles. Do you know how long it took for the mailing to get to you?

Yay! That's great news. Congrats to your daughter!

Awesome news, yankeegirl! Congratulations to you and your daughter!

apple
Friday was veteran's day - no mail. Penn State may also have not sent all pieces on Monday - sometimes colleges batch it. So... give it a little more time (and good luck).

Was it a reach for her? Or one of her top choices? If so, congrats. If it's just a safety...meh...

Congratulations! You can breathe a sigh of relief now.

My son's EA notification didn't arrive in the mail for 10 or 11 days after it was mailed. Everyone on this board had theirs after a couple of days. They said after Friday you could call and get your decision. He wanted to get it in the mail but by Monday he gave up and called. I think it came Wednesday. Apple, you might call if it doesn't come in a day or two.

I taped all of his acceptance envelopes to the inside of his bedroom door. He didn't take them down until the night before he left for college. Those big envelopes are fun.

He was waiting on a scholarship letter that came when he was out of town. I didn't open it, but I did hold it up to the light.

congratulations--- and here's to your self-control in not opening the envelope

congrats to ur daughter

of course a friend of mine bleeds white and blue... i hear penn state is no. 4 in bcs polls now, and still has a shot at the national title... something to cheer for no?
