I've always wondered if you could CHANGE your major after you've already been enrolled into one particular major. Also, how many majors can you take up?

Another query I had was that- if I have gained admission into the college of Engineering and Applied Sciences in a particular university, would it be possible to change that or taken on a major from a DIFFERENT college in that university, say the college of Liberal Arts?

Yes, you can change your major.

The number of majors you can have depends on the college. The highest number I’ve heard of is 3. But some may do more or less.

Again, depends on the college whether you can change a major that’s not in the school you’re in. Usually, an internal transfer is required.

At my university, you can change your major as many times as you want before a set deadline. (I think that’s either end of sophomore year or beginning of junior year.)

Yes, you can change your major as many times as you wish, normally the major should be declared by the beginning of your third year, and remember most majors have required classes so be observant of what is required before you change. Normally in undergrad schools you can do an honors, major, double major, minor and double minor, some folks also choose to do a double honors, but its alot to take on and should be done only after approval from academic advisors who can really help you break down the work load.
So its good to really take a few minutes to consider what you will need to change, for example if you have already taken the classes you needed for your previous major and now you need to take a whole other lot, you may want to look at inter and summer sessions options so you can still graduate on time with all the required classes. Students in good academic standing, normally above a B can also take 6 classes a semester and fast track things that way.
So there is always wiggle room for changing majors, just make sure you understand the required classes and that you have the time to do them all and do them all well. Its best to meet with academic advisor’s and review your thoughts with them, to make sure you have all your bases covered!

I’ve changed my majors into a completely different science. However, if going from a science for two year to an english degree it might take some extra time to graduate.

At my school, if you transferred into a major there, you have to stay in that major for at least a semester (could also be a year, not sure). Then you can apply to switch. Depending on the reputation of the individual school you are trying to get into, it may be close to impossible.

I’ve changed my major twice already. Before I started my freshman year, I was enrolled in one school within the college and then I switched to another school. It’s very doable, but it also depends on your classes and if you have to take certain ones before switching into that particular school or major. Furthermore, you’ll probably have to switch before your junior year, or else you’re pretty much stuck with your current one. Talk to the counselor of the school you’re interested in transferring to and see what you have to do to switch.
