Shingrix Will be Free for 2023 with Medicare Part D

I’d ask the md treating you for autoimmune issues for guidance and if you can get an Rx so maybe insurer will cover if you want to try to get reimbursed.

15 years ago, I paid out of pocket for zostervax (the less effective precursor to Shingrix). My doc wanted me to get it even tho I was only 50 and CDC was saying 60+ at the time. I paid out of pocket (under $200 at Costco pharmacy), considering how miserable H and D were with shingles and considered it $$ well spent.

You can call around to find out where the vax is available and prices to compare. There was a range of availability & prices when I called.

Unless it’s going to prevent you from paying for your basic necessities, it’s a no brainer to me. I mean assuming you can still pay for housing, food, transportation what trade off could possibly be worth risking shingles. I ran for my shot and happily paid OOP.

Yeah, my doc moved recently and I haven’t established with a new one yet. But that’s a good suggestion.

Oh, that’s good to know. I will be sure to call around to check out the pricing.

Right?! That is not enough money to be a hardship for me, thank goodness. I think it will be under $200 per shot and I will gladly pay that to not get shingles or any autoimmune sequelae.

Thanks for chiming in guys, I’m writing this on my to-do list right now.
