Hi all. I was just wondering if anybody knows anything about the annual $200 deductibles for SHIP? It says here on the website, "Yes, there is a $200 per plan year deductible for medical services provided outside of UHS. The deductible does not apply to services with fees at UHS or to pharmacy claims." Hmm, does going to a dentist consider "services provided outside of UHS" 'cause apparently, you have to find dentists outside the school that accept PPO. Or does that apply to visiting doctors outside the university only? Anyhow, I guess what I'm asking is do you have to pay the $200 annual deductible if you use SHIP to go to a dentist? Thanks in advance! :)

For dental, $25 per year deductible http://www.deltadentalins.com/UCB/benefit-plan-highlights-04713.pdf

Deductible is waived for preventative care though, so if you’re going to a dentist that accepts SHIP (there’s a list somewhere) and only need checkups/regular cleanings you don’t need to pay $200/$25. I didn’t pay anything for my appointments this year.

Also small reminder to check reviews of dentists/doctors (either online or through friends) before picking one.
