I pray we don't have an midshipmen on the disabled ship in the Gulf with Ike heading in.

I was just about to post a link about that. Apparently the CG is attempting a rescue now.
The Galveston County Daily News

I am pretty sure that ship is a foreign flagged ship and therefore should not have any midshipmen on it. Overall I am very worried for these people as the CG waivers on their decision on whether a rescue can be made and right now the answer appears to be no. I can completely understand the Coast Guards reasoning behind their decision at this time; however, having no power in the middle of a storm is not a good thing.

This is a reminder to everyone that shipping doesn't stop for storms and just because a storm is at sea it is not out of everyone's way.

Coastguard spokesman said they got within 20 miles of ship, but winds were 80 mph. They have turned back and will make a rescue attempt after the storm passes.

Does anybody know the name of the ship?

Antalina, Cypress-flagged

Thanks Luigi

we are in Houston and weathered the storm. The Antalina made it - after the eye passed they were towed into the port. All crew ok. My S was in port on the 9th - they had hoofed it from the keys to Houston in two days to beat Ike. We got to spend the day with him - what a change! They left Tuesday evening and we got an email right before the storm - they had slipped down the coast of Mexico and were drifting around Yucatan waiting for Ike to pass in 30ft seas.
