Well..I have no way to gauge how hard maintaining a 3.5 is. I also think it depends on the major and classes. But yeah...I assume, as long as I don't slack off, I'll be fine.

Does this mean that the people who already received the LS & A scholarship have no chance with this Shipman thing, if they haven't received a letter?

Is the LSA scholarship worth $40,000 over 4 years. IE, is that the same as the 80 LSA scholarships that they talk about on their webstite?

My understanding is that Shipman letters will be sent all the way up to March 1st. darkamaranth88, did you receive an LSA scholarship offer already? If so, when was your app complete (ED or RD) and about how long after you received your decision did you receive notification about the LSA scholarship? Just curious! Thanks.

przfer: That's the LSA scholarship, and it is the 80 they give out every year.
MomOfThree: I applied RD early October or late September, I think, and heard back about a month later. I received the LSA Scholarship a few days before Christmas eve. Hope that was helpful. Now what i'm really wondering is if they've given out all the LSA scholarships already, because I know of MANY qualified applicants who have been accepted, but haven't received word of anything yet.

ya i was also wonderin if they will offer any other merit based scholarships besides the LSA Scholarhsips.....does anyone also know if they r still sendin out Shipman and other scholarship invites????

Apparently there's a Michigan Scholar Award for non-residents. It's 5K a year...i got a letter about that around Jan 6-7.

i doubt they're sending out too many more shipman scholarships. our deadline to reply back to confirm we're going to the shipman weekend in late march was jan 6th.

But it could be on a rolling basis, I don't know.

My deadline was Jan. 10th, so it might change depending on the applicant.

mine was jan 6.
It was strange...I called Jan 4th or so...they called back Jan 7th asking if I was going because they needed to double check on the number of people attending or something. Did that happen to anyone else?

You people and your scholarships.

I thought 33 act and 4.0 was gonna be money.. yea, the regents.

:*(

i'm holding out hope.. something else has gotta come

Identical stats and I haven't even heard from Regents.

Dsmo, what are you doing, interviewing with a Cornell alum?! You belong to Michigan baby! hehe For shame!

Wait, my stats are just as impressive as any of yours, not to be cocky. Why haven't I recieved anything about scholarships?
My stats:
34 ACT
2290 SAT (1530 old)
4.0 UW GPA, 1st in class of 500
17 APs (taken 9 already)
This is really bugging me.

when did you get accepted?

(I'm kind of confused about how I got so much in way of scholarships...because my stats are good but not amazing.)

I was accepted in mid November. My app was completed in mid October.

For scholarships they may put more emphasis on ECs and essays...I don't know...
Otherwise, it may be just luck of the draw?

Well, my ec's are pretty strong, but my essays not so much. The essays are not what I would turn into Harvard or Princeton, but they still are decent.

Imo, my Michigan essay was my best one of the few I wrote. Maybe that's what makes the difference?

I wouldn't worry. One of my friends has gotten a perfect score on all her standardized tests, i kid you not, and she has received nothing yet. Don't lose hope until April? Mm.
