I’m an out of state Freshman and I’ll be flying to Lincoln, so I can’t really bring everything (or much of anything) that I need to. So, my parents plan on shipping through UPS what I don’t pack in my suitcase for move in. It would hopefully arrive the day of, or the day after check-in.
How specific should the shipping address be: should I include the residence hall name, and even room number? Or is there a specific place where all shipments will be dropped off for freshmen to pick up?
Thanks.
Here’s how I do it for my son:
FirstName LastName
University of Nebraska–Lincoln
StreetAddress of Dorm
DormName Here Rm 123B
Lincoln, NE 68508-nnnn
However, you probably don’t need all that information. I recommend going to the USPS zip code finder to confirm the correct address and zip+4 information. https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction_input
Thank you for the information. I feel weird about sending stuff before move in–do you know if it will end up in the mailroom or if it will end up at my room (or at least in my dorm)? @goodncolo
I don’t know. I suggest that you contact them to ask. From the website: housing@unl.edu and (800) 742-8800 Ext. 3561
Most schools have a mail room that accepts parcels from the delivery company. U show your ID and pick it up there.
No school is going to deliver pkgs to the dorm room, to be left unattended until u possibly show up.
