Shipping shi... stuff

How is everyone doing gearing up for move-in? Anyone mailing their stuff up? I am picking up linens and such that I have already ordered once I am there and I ordered the Microfridge to be delivered to my room. So I have four 24" by 18" boxes for clothes and books to ship. I am a little worried about picking them up once there. Will it back madhouse move in week? Do many people ship stuff?

wondering the same thing

Yay… so I am not alone.

Anyone have any idea?

My D shipped boxes last year. They were ready for her to pick up the day she moved in. Some of the boxes arrived on the days she moved in, some arrived 1 or 2 days earlier. Check the estimated delivery date before you ship. Don’t send to early. 1 or 2 days before you move in is reasonable. You should have Penn dorm address/room number on the shipping labels.

Ooh. Awesome. Thanks!

I ordered from BB&B in Alabama, picking up from a store near Philly 2 days before early move in.

I did the same. Let us know how it worked out!

I don’t think the mailrooms ever get too busy. Then again, have been living in Sansom last two years and freshman year in the quad seems like a long time ago lol.

Thanks for the info. I am actually in Sansom, too, as a grad student. What do think of the place? I was a little bummed to end up there after a couple of apts I found didn’t work out. I am beginning to appreciate proximity to classes, though, and just the ease of it. Hopefully, even though it wasn’t my first choice, I will learn to love it.

Also: as a side note, is Sansom pretty empty? My suitemate is not yet listed on Campus Express… chances of having the bathroom to myself??? Haha.

Don’t think they list suitemates for Sansom since it’s technically not a suite (if you’re talking about the singles with shared restrooms). Sansom is pretty empty, but at least it’s pretty quiet so you can get some work done (could never sleep properly first year in the quad).

Honestly, I think Sansom West is better than East. The carpets in east look kinda dreary and the wooden chairs aren’t as comfy. Plus, you get better lighting in West (both artificial and natural, think there’s more east facing rooms in West ironically. West has these swivel office chairs and linoleum floors that are easier to clean and brighten up the room.

Cool. Thanks.
