Hey I'm planning on shipping my bedding and linens to Georgetown since I don't have enough room in my suitcases. Has anyone else done this and could advise me about how to go about doing this? Do they have a central receiving location or what? Thanks in advance.

"For Letters Only,
NOT Packages

Student's Name
Georgetown University
Box #
Washington, DC 20057-

The above address format is the preferred format, and should be used whether on, or off campus. Extremely remote locations should be discussed with Mail Services

For package delivery of FedEx, UPS, and other such over-night courier services, the student's residence hall and room number MUST be included on the package, NOT the student's mail box number."

Packages are shipped to the Residence Hall Office. They will notify you once they receive it and you have to arrange to pick it up. I shipped a number of things to my son his freshman year....some arrived very quickly, but the package of baked goods sent priority mail was lost in Georgetown's mail service for almost a week (yuck!). I believe Georgetown's mail service is across the river somewhere and there is no where or no way to check on things that go missing. I also know that on one occassion they returned a package to the sender when my son wasn't there to pick it up (it arrived while he was on christmas break). I am not sure what they will do if your package arrives before you do.

I remember reading that the RHO won't accept packages until September 1 of this year, so keep that in mind. If you need something during your time at Orientation, I would bring it with you. I'm bringing stuff like bedding, etc. with me but shippingmy printer and other items I don't really need for Orientation but will for school.

I'm shipping stuff to the hotel my parents are staying at during the move in weekend. call ahead and ask your hotel, but I'm sure most would let you. also, I don't know where you're from, but I'm from Houston and UPS said it would take a week to get there, so definitely allow time for that.

It may be past the deadline already, but the Georgetown crew team is coming up the East Coast, and you can drop your stuff off with them at designated spots, and they will bring it down to Georgetown for you, and it will be in your room when you get there. I think it costs about $50 a box, depending on the size. Or you buy your things at Bed Bath and Beyond where you live, but they will ship it down to the BB&B nearest to DC, and you can pick it up there.

I shipped packages to the hotel. My s is there for football I sent a fed ex last week that Georgetown has not yet sent to his dorm!! I would skip sending pakgs to the school. We sent 4 to our hotel it worked out great! Also you can go to BEd, bath & beyond pick your stuff and they will have it packaged and ready to go at the DC bed bath and beyond Also there is a container store on Wis. Ave
