if anyone knows someone or is someone who got accepted with low stats leave a comment! by low i mean around a 1700 on the sat and below a 3.5 gpa

THAT is waaaaaaaaaaay too low...

how about:

~2000 SAT
3.5-3.7 gpa
some small crap

Yeh, not many people get in with scores like that, no matter what the Uni says on its SAT policy. Unless they are a worldclass athlete or have cured all cases of Cancer, BirdFlu, West Nile Virus, Depression, Malaria, the Plague, Global Warming, and all natural disasters including, but not limited to, blizzards, hurricanes, earthquaks, volcanoes...

hahahah you'll be surprised when you arrive at pton and notice the absurdly large number of students who are neither extremely brilliant nor motivated.

ditto.
"our particularly large applicant pool this year has enabled to put together a brilliant and diverse class" = BS
there will always be some smart people and some dumbasses, some exciting people and some boring people... wherever you go

a kid in my grade got in ED with a 3.6 (doesn't even take hardest workload) and around an 1800 on the new SATs... but he's a nationally ranked swimmer

I guess there is always a "but".

There are non-motivated students attending PRINCETON?!!!

***?! TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT THE DUMBEST KID YOU KNOW AT P'TON!!

At our local high school, a football player with a 30 ACT and top 50% class standing got in to Princeton. A student who was 1/16th URM got in to Duke with comparably low stats. As a result, the top 5% students this year seem to believe that the super selective schools are not as filled with intelligence as they formerly believed and many of these students didn't even apply to top schools. Many of the bright, highly accomplished kids are attending our state university (by choice), which happens to be very good school.

actually, I've heard this about the kids at Harvard, too...

I have some friends there that have been sorely disappointed by the lack of interesting and motivated students on campus. Sure, just about everyone did something amazing in high school, but a lot of them are too excited about partying once they get to college I guess...

My friend got into Princeton ED with 3.76 GPA, 2160 SAT, 800, 780, 760 SAT II's. No legacy, URM status, or any outstanding accomplishments.

This, you will find at everywhere. Just because you're at pton does not mean a guaranteed omnipresence of intellectual, motivated, diligent students. If you need help finding so-called "dumb" people at pton (emphasized because everyone at pton is not dumb compared to the rest of the general population, but some of them are not comparable with the superstars you all dream about), take a close look at buildings and other notable structures on campus. Then, note their names. If you know of anyone around you who shares the name, bingo. Chances are, that person may not be so intellectual, motivated, and diligent after all. However, I must place a disclaimer stating that this is not always true. Still, you may find it useful at times.

p.s.
insecure101:
I can list 12 current pton students who are not very bright or ambitious.

Oh...just curious: How many P'ton students do you know? (obviously not the entire class right?)

Your getting people's hopes up....WOW...(lol_lol)

He had incredible essays and really connected with the interviewer. The admissions officer wrote back and told him she found his passion and dedication to his activities outstanding. I didn't mean to get everyone's hopes up...lol, just an example.

My friend from another school got in with a 3.2 GPA, 2400 SAT. She had general run of the mill extracurriculars, but she published a couple poetry books.

wow a 3.2 . i just found out i have a 3.7 .15 up since last term. and i take a hard course load. i do lots of extracurriculars. and volunteer. but i took an ACT practice test and got a 28. but im sure it will be higher on the real one. do i have a good chance?

I have about an 89 UW, which I believe is a 3.4, but my rank is 13/448, and I have a courseload that would probably beat the pants off of most applicants. (by graduation, 5 AP, 3 IB SL, 4 IB HL, with the rest being pre-AP (or honors as others call it))

^ but you are a URM

LOL
now everyone thinks that they can get in!?
Did you guys not read what californiakid said?

P'ton makes sure that every person they pick is interesting...so far none of the ppl on this thread are even close.
