How hard would you say it is to score around the range of 590-630 on this test? Of course if a higher scores comes my way I'll be more than happy, but for right now I am just looking for score that meets the minimum requirements gasp for a school I'm looking at.

I have only taken a CP level course in biology last year and I haven't retained much of the information. I just picked up a barrons sat ii book and I will probably look through as much info as my brain and work ethic will allow me to... until the October test date.

i live in NY, and we have something called the Regents..state examinations, and 2 years ago i was in advanced science classes when we were in 9th grade...so only like 80 people in my school (out of over 700) took biology regents. it isnt an AP class at all, but when we took the SAT II, the highest anyone got was like a 690 or 700 (only 2 ppl got that high!!)...i got a 590, and most of the ppl in my school that also took it got under a 530, so a 590 won't be too hard 2 obtain (we also took it b4 we finished the course :p)

I hope you mean above a 530..because if most of the people that took it got under a 530...that isn't very comforting lol :)

how strong was your background in bioogy before you took it? Did you prepare with books anything or did you take the test only with what you learned from the class?

Um ok LuckMC11 u OBVIOUSLY didnt study for the SAT II, like u probably depended on your course material or w.e and said that its enough, however thats very wrong todo , even depending on AP course would only probably get you around 600-690 Unless ur like lucky, the thing to do is BUY an SAT II biology book , and study like crazy..The best book out there is Barrons

and yes OP u could DEFINETLY get 600+ With Barrons if u just like MEMORiZE the whole thing (Thats a 700+ right there)

The review of pre-calc they generally do at the beginning of calc class in the fall of senior year should help you prepare for the SAT Math2 (it helped my son & his friends do very well).
At their HS, they generally recommend kids to take the science SATIIs right after they complete the course, so they generally take it spring of 9th or 10th grade for bio & most do fine (600s-700+). Since it's been so long since you had bio, review, review, review & take practice exams. Good luck!

xylem is right, an AP course is sometimes not sufficient because the teacher could be bad (like mine) and/or the material taught in class was not well taught.

get a prep book and study it, and you should be in pretty good shape.

yea, well none of us knew how SAT IIs were like/when we should take them..the teacher just said 2 take it, so we did

yeah i know what you mean, thats the case for many people, They Just listen to the teacher and take it without doing any extra prep other then the class..So dont feel too bad about it ;)
but hey , at least now you know what todo next time :)
