Shoe for going out?

Im a guy and i would like to know what kind of shoes you go out in like to parties, dates, clubs etc. I like to work out alot so i usually wear tennis shoes and i find them very comfy so even walking around campus i like them most. But i dont think they look great when you are going out so what kind of shoes do you think i should get? Im not really into sperrys or other boat shoes. I like the typical nike casual shoe, what do you think of those? Or Pumas?

I guess some Vans or something would work? I’ve never really had to dress up when “going out” except to fancy restaurants where I just wear my business suits. For anything else I just wear my sneakers or trainers or boat shoes because honestly I’m probably gonna be getting drunk and I wouldn’t want to spill beer on anything nice.

Pumas look nice if you normally wear tennis shoes. What’s wrong with wearing running shoes?

You should never wear running shoes unless you’re working out. Ever.

yeah thats my point i like to work out and if i were to walk from my dorms to class i would want to do it in tennis shoes but not if i was at a club or party.

“You should never wear running shoes unless you’re working out. Ever.”

lol

better do that or else the fashion police might arrest you for being so un-fab

I’m I the only one who only has one pair of sneakers that I wear all the time? It’s not about cost it’s about practicality…if the pair comfortable why constantly be swapping it out.

I pretty much am like that. I generally just wear my sneakers all the time except they’re walking shoes so I wear trainers at the gym. I wear boat shoes in hotter weather though.

but I guess you’ll never be fratty or even fratty lite if you do so.

The problem with any type of athletic shoe is that some bars/clubs may not let you into them. Of course you may not have to worry about this if you aren’t going to places with strict dress crode But if you insist on casual shoes, you should look into Lacoste’s Arona or any type of “chukka” style tennis shoes.
If you’re open to extending your search beyond tennis/casual shooes, look into Chukka Boots. Clarks Desert Boots are classic. I think they could even be worn for internship or any business casual type job.
Urban Outfitters has a good selection of other chukka style boots(including Clarks) and non chukka boots that look like they can be dressed down or up.

Get a pair of brown and a pair of black oxford type shoes for going out. Which are casual dress shoes. (I like Dr.Scholls.) At any rate don’t spend more then 30$ for a pair of shoes.

As a guy more people are going to look at what type of shirt your wearing out then anything else.

My lord. CCers…
Did the two posters above me even read the first post?

Get pumas =) That’s what I wear the majority of the time. Actually get what you like. Don’t listen to CCers when it comes to shoes, clothes, cargo pants, etc.

Why do you assume we didn’t?

Also, ironically since your a CCer, he shouldn’t listen to your advice about pumas.

I got a pair of black vans authentic. What color of sperrys do you like the best because there are tons of options

^^^ Seeing as the OP said he liked the typical nike casual shoe and pumas, I do not think black oxfords are anywhere near what the he is looking for (which I view as more formal)

Even though I label myself as a NonCCer, I did add “Actually get what you like,” implying not to listen to my choice and go for what he likes.

I am now under the impression that you failed to read his post.
He also said:
“But i dont think they look great when you are going outb** so what kind of shoes do you think i should get?”

He asked for our opinions. I gave my opinion.
He said he liked casual nike, and pumas, he never once said that he was considering only those as an option.
He said he didn’t like sperry or boat shoes, of which oxfords are neither, and oxfords do come in more casual styles that look good in either jeans/khakis and are perfect for going out or for more formal uses such as a job interview. Win/Win in my opinion.
Seems to me I was perfectly in line with my suggestion.

At anyrate its better by far then giving an opinion, then taking it back. You might as well have refrained from posting at all.

This is similar to the question on what clothes to bring. In my opinion there’s nothing wrong with wearing tennis shoes all the time. Heck I wear running shoes all the time. That’s all I buy. And then I also have a nice and comfortable pair of dress shoes for those special occasions.

Tennis shoes =/= casual nike’s

I see black oxfords as formal shoes, but whatever floats your boat.

your a guy. wear the shoes you got on

Whatever floats your boat.
