Shold it stay just a dream

I have dreamedof going to ucla for as long as i remember, and i know i don;t have a shot but i wanted to see what you guys thought anyway, could you tell me my 'chances' for all ucs? (i am a senior nextyear)

Horrible cumilitve uc gpa- around 3.92, but i have a huge upward trend- for the four semesters that count- 3.33, 3.83, 4.0, 4.5 opefully they will see that

SATS- i knew i screwed upmajorly when i came out- i ended up with a 1950 while aiming for 2100+, i know i can get at least a 2050 simply due to way better practice tests.

Sat II- also screwedup
biology E- 680
Us History- 700

Will be taking most likely 8 AP classes total, possibly 7 but yeah

ECs- I have done 4 years of tennis, 3 years on varsity
3 years on my schools journalism newspaper, one year (next year) i am its financial manager

4 years as a very active member of my schools JSA chapter- leadership positions for the last three years ( events coordinator, mini cia officer, treasurer, secretary, etc)

2 summers (counting this summer) of an internship at an investment firm

various community service at library and hospital, only have around 65 hours right now but hope to boost that to at least 100 this summer.

i realize i dont have that MANY ecs but i feel like i have longevity in all of them and i hope that will help me

should have excellent essays, writing is kind of my thing

thanks

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

thanks Flopsy...bump...anyone else?

... as is UCB. UCSD is a MATCH/REACH -- a coin flip (your UC GPA is below their average of 4.03, and your SAT I is at about the 50% mark). UCI, UCSB, and UCD are MATCH. UCSC and UCR are solid MATCH.

Specific to UCLA, your numbers don't compare well. More than 51% of the "admitted" students for fall of 2006 had GPA of 4.0 and above. About 72% of "admitted" students had SAT I total scores of 2100 and above. To say the least, it's a competitive school.

See the following website for Profile of Admitted Freshmen for 2006:
http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof06.htm

Your AP test scores are considered but not nearly as important as your GPA and your SAT scores to the UC's. In the case of UCLA, they happen to also weight the SAT Subject Exams a bit higher in their evaluation process than the other UC's.

Consider studying for the SAT's this summer -- both the SAT I and the Subject Exams -- and if you can boost your score to 2100+, you will increase your chances considerably at UCLA and UCSD... otherwise your chances may be on the thin side, realistically-speaking. Good luck!
