This probably was said at the time; Praise to Prof. Librescu and God rest his soul.

There’s a shooter at the University of Oklahoma right now.

Oh no, whenhen, If you are there now, stay safe!

Yes, I heard, whenhen.

To be honest, I’m starting to feel uneasy about these shootings. Earlier this school year, my campus had two event with guns. The first even was with a man who ran into the hospital with a gun. The man was never found. The second was with an armed man who sexually assaulted multiple women. The police spent two days searching for the guy and killed him.

Search called out after series of assaults.

Now USF students can have guns in their cars.

It appears to have been [a false alarm](http://newsok.com/no-evidence-of-shooting-at-ou-boren-says/article/3926207)

For those of you saying that Drew sounds like a terrific young man, I just want to confirm that he was. My son and Drew attended K-8 together. While they went to different high schools they were both active in scouts at the Parish throughout high school. They went on many camping trips and other outings together. They worked on each others Eagle projects and participated in each others ceremonies. Our families attended a number of scout activities together. They are a terrific family and I can only imagine how devastating this is. It’s going to be a difficult service to attend as it is with any young person.

Our families didn’t really keep up once the boys went off to college but my wife ran into Drew’s mom at the grocery store a few months ago and they caught each other up. She was so proud of Drew with darn good reason. My kids had eye doctor appointments during break a couple of weeks ago. Drew’s dad was there waiting for his appointment and they had a nice catch up conversation too.

I read the early articles about the shooting and thought of Drew but it’s such a big school that you can’t imagine it could be someone you know. Then the face pops up on the local news and the phone starts ringing as mutual friends inform and commiserate. When it hits close to home it reminds us that every ‘just a shooting’ leaves devastated families behind.

annoyingdad, So sorry for the loss of such a fine young man to his family and community.

Our D is a freshman FYE student at Purdue. We received a text from her at 12:30 telling us that she had been alerted that there had been a shooting on campus and the she was safe and in her dorm. They had been placed on “Shelter in Place status”. As a parent the first thing you fear is a situation like Columbine or Virginia Tech. Certain Professors not withstanding I think Purdue handled this well, however, the situation was quite different from those other examples. While the reason is unknown, the perpertrator found the victim, killed him, left the scene and was immediately apprehended and gave up without a struggle. It ends up the suspect is from our area and went to a nearby HS. Local news reports indicate he does not fit the description of others who have commited such crimes, he had friends, hobbies and was intelligent. The question I and probably most Purdue parents have is WHY? What can happen that a young man who seemingly is quite capable can end the life of another and essentially end his own life as he would know it. My prayers go out to Andrew Boldt’s family and I wish my D and all her classmates at Purdue the best in dealing with what is a seemingly mindless tragedy.

Being from Chicago, I hear about shootings all the time on the news. This was a pretty big shock though, glad it wasn’t any worse

I just got admitted to Purdue. The that’s screwing me up is should i enroll?

Forzajuve: you have until May 1 to decide. Wait until you have all admission decisions and financial aid awards before making that decision.

The shooting was targeted against one student. You should evaluate whether you think Purdue is as safe or has policies as good as those at other universities you have applied to.
