Shooting for success or complete failure?

Hi, everyone! As you might be able to tell, I have posted quite a few topics on where and what I could do with my GPA (2.96) with some type of hope of raising it to a 3.0 by the time applications come around. I am currently an aspiring civil engineer with an ACT score of 22 (I know.. really bad, but I am retaking it in September. It was my first one). I have gathered a list of some potential schools I would like to apply. Some are considering their engineering programs and others are not. Also, I am obviously not chasing for anything Ivy but definitely a school higher than a community college (cc is not an option at all). I am a female Hispanic living in IL.

I am still currently accumulating extracurriculars so my list has yet to be created.

Classes taken each year:

Since I had to start off completely new without any placement tests taken I had to take regular classes but I began to place for honors and AP classes during sophomore and junior year

-Freshman
Geometry
English 1/ Communications
World History
Biology
Chinese 1
Autos
Digital Graphic Design

-Sophomore
Advanced Algebra 2
English Honors
Latin American History Honors
Pacific Rim Honors
Chemistry
Business Law
Woodworking
Chinese 2 Honors

-Junior
PreCalc Stats
AP English Language
United States History
Physics
Chinese 3 Honors
Consumer Econ Honors
Driver's Ed

-Senior
Principles of Engineering Honors (PLTW)
PreCalc Discrete
Engineering Physics Honors
AP English Literature
International Relations
Chinese 4 Honors
(2 more Honors classes, just don't remember which at the moment)

Overall, I got A's and B's throughout freshman and sophomore year but it all went downhill during junior when I began to have family problems. I know I can do better in the end. Oh! I have also been part of an engineering program at my school and have served as a teaching assistant there along with being admitted into DePaul's hosting Startalk program for Chinese spending 6 weeks of my summer there after freshman year.

Now, for the schools!
Purdue (main choice)
Univ of Cincinnati
Arizona State Univ
U of CO Boulder
CO State Univ
DePaul Univ
U of IL Chicago
U of IL Urbana-Champaign
Iowa State U
Kansas State Univ
Loyola Chicago
U of MA Amherst
U of Missouri Columbia
Ohio State University - College of Engineering
U of Utah
Washington State Univ

Thank you in advance!

Bump bump…

Looks like your in the same boat as me. I have roughly the same GPA (2.78 on a BIG upward trend though), 23 ACT with 100 hours of community service but more AP’s it looks like. Purdue is my hope, but the average gpa of a freshmen is 3.6(but a acceptance rate of 67%?), so I really doubt you or I will get in BUT it is possible of course. U of C has a average gpa of 3.46 and your act falls in the 50% so it is possible as long as you pull out some strong extra’s and do not slack your senior year. Best of luck to you, hopefully more will come along and give better help.
