So, I’m currently a student at another University, and I’m feeling dissatisfied with their theatre program.
So I’m looking around at schools with Musical Theatre programs to transfer into, since that’s what I’m really interested in, and what I really want to do.
Can anyone tell me how this program is compared to other programs? I’ve been looking around for only a few days at programs around the country, and this is a college that was recommended to me by a former teacher.
I plan on making a few visits to see some colleges and figure out what I really want to do, and I even have a contingency plan should a transfer fall through and I’m forced to stay at my current University. So having a few distinct choices in mind will definitely help me come spring when I’m looking to audition.
Thanks so much!

This may be a good program for you as a transfer. My D will be a MT/BFA major in the fall and knows of one girl in the class who will be going in as a sophmore. She went to a community college first and has been told that she can complete the MT/BFA program in 3 years. Good luck!

I'll be a sophomore at my current college this fall.
Sorry if I was unclear; I'm still really freaking out about this whole thing in general. It was sort of a decision that I came to all of a sudden, kind of an "Oh my god I need to get out of this theatre program because I feel trapped" sort of moment.
Thanks a bunch for the info though. It helps knowing that there are other people who are trying to transfer schools and want to do MT.

I don't know where you went, but my D left her University program for the same reason; she wasn't happy. She looked around at about 10 schools and applied/auditioned to some BFA, some BA programs. We found out that most BFA programs (not all) would only consider her as a freshman. We visited a lot of schools. She liked IU a lot. We were all impressed with the program, but she felt it was too far from home. My D fell in love with Muhlenberg and it is a lot closer to home. I am happy to say she was accepted there and will be going in the fall as a Junior.

Do a lot of research and continue to use CC as a resource! Good Luck!

I know of a friend of mine.. who came in his jr year and was a considered a soph. so if one more year doesnt bother you. than this is a great place
