Shopping at UCI

Do anyone know where the closest Target (or comparable store) is from the campus? Is it within working distance distance or do you need to take the bus?

I heard there is an Albertson near by. Is that within walking distance?

If you’re in the dorms there’s a Trader Joes in the center across the street. Near the ARC (gym) there’s an Albertsons but it’s kind of a long walk from the dorms. There’s a couple Target’s close by but none are within walking distance so you’d have to get transportation there.

From middle earth Albertson’s is not that far, about just as far as Trader Joes.
As for target, I have no idea.

any malls close by uci?? walkable?

If you take the bus (which is supposedly free for UCI freshmen), you can get two mall centers: Irvine Spectrum (4 miles from UCI center) and Fashion Island (2 miles from UCI center). Both take about 10 - 15 minute bus drive. I don’t think they’re walkable.

As for Albertsons, it’s walkable, but a long walk from freshmen dorms.

Fashion Island is like less than 5 minutes on car

ummmmm

about 20 mins on bus

Fashion Island, the spectrum, and the Tustin ranch mall are all close!

albertsons is about 7-8 minutes from the edge of middle earth

trader joe’s is kind of between the two dorms but i think albertsons is a few minutes closer if you’re (at the edge of) middle earth

there’s a target somewhere because i’ve seen my roommate return with bags from there but i’ve never asked her where it is/gone myself

also, since you are required to have a meal plan that also gives you either $50 or $75 in flex dollars, if you plan to eat mostly at commons and not somewhere like the student center, you can use up that $ by going to the zot-n-go convenience for small things like snacks (so you wouldn’t have to walk to albertsons)

Is the zot-n-go convenience store like a mini 7-11? What is the C-3 Convenience store? Is it also like a mini 7-11?

err kind of like a 7-11. there’s coffee and a lot of drinks (snapple, sodas, etc.), frozen dinners, milk, the regular unhealthy snacks like chips and cheetos, but on the other hand a lot of healthy organic stuff… there’s also a sushi section. oh, and candy. lots of candy, haha. as far as the non-food stuff goes they have toiletries like soap and toothbrushes.

sorry, i have no idea what c-3 is :(

You can also spend your Zot Bucks at Pheonix Grill and BC Cavern which have warm food + a lot of the stuff like drinks and snacks(though not as much as Zot-n-go which is very much like a 7-11 as Jennifer explained well).

Can you use the FlexDine card at Zot-n-go?

C3 is the “other” convenience store. It’s in the Social Sciences plaza:

[Hospitality & Dining Services](http://www.placestoeat.uci.edu/convenience.php)

Ah I never knew that was called C3…never purchased anything thing there.

i think i’m imagining the right place but i haven’t been there before either

can you use flexdine dollars at zot-no-go and C3 for non-food stuff?

you can buy anything you want at zot n go with the flex dine, and i’d assume it’s probably the same deal at c3

Albertson’s and Trader Joe’s are next to campus, easily walkable. A lot of students have cars, so it’s pretty easy to get rides to Target, Fashion Island, etc. You can also take the OCTA buses free with your ID card.
