Hi everyone! I've been involved in debate, public speaking, MUN and some political campaigns, all of which involve public speaking.

I'm currently writing my Short Answer on one way in which I practice for all these events, as they involve common skills after all. Would colleges frown upon this? Or, so long as the Short Answer works as a bite-sized CommonApp essay, is it fine? Thanks guys! :)

generally, the more specific essays tend to be less generic and more detailed, thus fulfilling the real goal here, finding out who you are? Is your essay specific? In other words, could your essay apply to anyone, or just you?

It’s pretty personal because of the specific way I practice discussed, and I think should add a bit of humor to my otherwise serious application/self. That said, I’m not sure if the same principles apply, as I meant to say in my first post that I’m referring to the 150word ShortAnswer and not the 250+ word one! :P

Yah I know you were talking about the 150 word EC Common app essay. If your comfortable with it, you could send me your short essay and I could tell you what I think about it. I’ve already written my two common app essays so i’m not trying to steal yours. If you want to read my EC one, PM me. If you dont want to send me your essay, its ok, i understand. Good luck :)
