<p>For the "why Columbia" essay -- you only have a limited number of words so there probably isn't room for too much creativity. It doesn't have to be "formal style," as long as it's proper English. Write in your own voice however you think will sound the best.</p>
<p>For the other questions like what you read on the toilet bowl, etc. -- you don't need complete sentences. Just list whatever books, mags, etc. separated by your favorite punctuation (commas, semicolons, periods).</p>
