Alright, just a little confused. I am on the common app and see that there is space to answer the short answer questions. However, on the Pitt website it says, “In order to submit your responses to the Short Answer Questions, you must first complete the University of Pittsburgh application. You will then receive an e-mail with a link to complete the Short Answer Questions online.” Which one is it? Should I complete the short answer questions on the common app or via the link they send after completing the app?
My D applied to Pitt via common app and she answered all those questions otherwise you will not be able to send the application. Our application is complete as all the scores now received and now waiting for decision. do not worry about email link if you are applying via common app.
You may want to reach out to the Pitt admissions office. Rumor has it that since this is their first year on the common app, they did not set up the system to accept the short answers if they were submitted online, which is why they then email students. (It is also a way for them to measure interest… if you ignore the email and you fail to set up the account and send the short answers that way, they will assume you aren’t that serious about them.)
Hmmm okay, if anyone has any additional information concerning this topic please don’t hesitate to add.
@kkendall, You can fill out the questions directly in the Common Application! We will investigate that language on our website and update it - it’s intended to tell people that they can’t submit the external form before they apply, not to say you can’t complete the questions directly in the app. But I see how the wording can be confusing - apologies!
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
Oh I see. Thank you @hailtopitt1787 for the clarity. It’s much appreciated.
