Hmmm... I'm happy about the single.. but not exactly happy about the location of the hall.. I'm a film major.. and it is really far away.

Is anyone else assigned here too? How are you feeling about it?

Experienced people: how does being assigned to this room affect the social life? Parties? How's the daily life?

Is there anyway I can switch if I really want to when I finally get there?

Hey, I'm a film student too. I was assigned to North Campus at Northwood Housing but I declined to sign the contract. I visited the campus a few weeks back and talked to some people who were staying up there... The thing is, many of the students up there are engineering students, so it's a lot of guys up there (not a lot of female action). I guess it's nice if you want it quiet, but from what I gather, your central campus friends aren't going to want to take the bus to come up and party at North Dorm or even really hang out for that matter, so most likely you will spending all your down time at the dorm and all your social life will most likely exist at Central Campus parties.
As far as getting to classes, there is a nonstop 10 min. bus ride that goes directly to central campus.

so where are you gonna stay?

It is possible to switch once you get there, but I heard that it's really difficult. You'll be put on a waiting list. Plus, housing is limited during to the larger than normal freshman and sophomore classes. There are no guarantees that your request to switch will be successful.

My recommendation would be to try living on North Campus before you decide you don't like it. You may be surprised.

Since I'm not a freshmen, I have a few more options. I'm just looking to buy the contract of someone (contract reassignment) in the West Quad/Cambridge House or Oxford Housing. If that doesn't work out, I'll get an apartment/room close to central campus.

Also, I guess if you're around a lot of freshmen at Baits then you'll get to know people regardless, but most of the parties will be a bus-ride away. Baits isn't considered a freshmen dorm but maybe they'll have a lot of them there this year and the years to come.
