Are there any programs for high school students that begin after August 10th? My son is working at a camp until then but does have 3 weeks off and he would love to go somewhere and do some volunteer work, or really, do anything. I'm not crazy about those programs that charge thousands of dollars for "community service" but with our restricted dates we are interested in anything that might be available.

BUMP I would like to know as well

bump bump bump

Language immerison programs still open for late summer. Concordia Language Villages are set up so that you can arrive with fluent knowledge of the language or you can arrive knowing NOT ONE WORD of the language. Students stay in lake cabins, but the cabins are not too rustic - there is electricity, there are nice bathrooms. (If you are 17 or 18 and want to go to French or Spanish, they WILL let you do so; you just have to accept you will be one of the older students there.) These programs are really fun (dances or parties in the evenings) and great for college apps or prep for next year's AP classes. Check it out.

Not many people can speak Danish...

http://clvweb.cord.edu/prweb/schedule/default.asp?l=Danish for example

And the Danish program includes an optional bike tour, although you should probably learn how to say "Watch out for that semi!" in Danish. Check Babelfish, maybe.

Bump this. Are there any science-y ones this year?
