Short-term activity on common app???

Hey guys.

Would it be bad to list a short-term extracurricular as an activity on your colllege app. For example, a five-day program where you gained hands-on experience shadowing a profession, totaling 50 hours.

Or perhaps taking a program for disaster preparedness and first aid class that includes a lot of lectures, simulations, hands-on experience, but is only for three days yet totals 20 hours. (Certificate of completion)

Would it be bad to put these kind of extracurricular activities? I have three or four other activities with long term commitment, but would it be bad to add these, because these were very professional and I learned so much from them.

I think that would be fine. Just don’t put it at the top of your list because that’s where you should put your most significant and time consuming EC’s. I put a five-day leadership conference/camp that I went to on my common app activities list, but like near the bottom.
You are kind of right as in if you put too much of these “short term” things on your activities list, it may not look too good. If you are really worried about having too much, put the least significant ones in the “additional writing” section.
