Shortening the Essay

<p>All of the essays I've written are over the character limit! Any ideas for shortening the length w/o taking away meaning?</p>

<p>Put it down, look at it a few days later, try to edit, keep repeating…Lincoln did it for his Gettysburg Address…got it down to 10 sentences.</p>

<p>Find unnecessary adjectives, clauses which are irrelevant and any prepositional phrases that are not adding to the main structure. And make sure only to use one space between periods.</p>

<p>The short answer essay speaks in terms of 150 words or less, and has a character limit of 3500. I never really counted but isn’t 150 words usually way, way less than 3500 characters. Probably less than 2000 characters.
Why would they have such a high character limit ?</p>

<p>MBJ: I have the EXACT same question as you. It says 150, but there is space for atleast 500…</p>
